For example, this weekend I am attending two ABATE (A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments) "toy runs" for disadvantaged children (ref: http://www.abateofrockhill.org/toyrun.htm . Then, next weekend my wife and I have organized a “Justice for Juveniles” protest in front of the South Carolina Supreme Court (ref: http://www.christopherpittmandefensefund.com ). We (my wife since 1971) and I participate in many anti-war activities while at the same time preparing “care packages” for troops in Iraq. There’s so much to do, there ain’t enough hours in the day. It boggles my mind when ppl ask “What can I do?”. Oh, we’re also leaders in the movement against the giant pharmaceutical companies pushing dangerous SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) on children, etc. etc. We work against efforts such as Teen Screen and No Child Left Behind. I am the vice-chair of the local ATC SIC (Advanced Technology Center - School Improvement Committee) to keep an eye on big brother trying to push ($$) his BS policies on school systems. I could go on and on. My suggestion is to find a “cause”, learn about it and then put your energy where your heart is. It’s so simple.

Yep, we try to kick ass. Down here in SC, where there are no vehicle inspections or helmets for riders over 21, we keep the legislators on their toes.

This year we’re focusing on several law changes (handle bar height, ROW [Right Of Way]) legislation, etc. Our STATE site is: http://www.abatesc.com . I am the High Country, Rock Hill Chapter Membership Coordinator. We just started this Chapter and moved from another chapter to help build this one. I’m also setting up our web presence: http://www.abateofrockhill.org (new site) and I put up a Chat at: http://www.abateofrockhill.org/chat . Additionally, I’ve set up a couple Cafepress sites for ABATE gear: http://www.cafepress.com/abateofrockhill and http://www.cafepress.com/abate_cafe .

    Yepper, I say busy.

Man, this is weird, a friend of mine in Ireland has a bike very much like yours (similar). Here’s the link to the thread: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/quayvipersmcc/vpost?id=779319
And here’s the link to a pic of his bike: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/view/mb/file?username=quayvipersmcc&id=108830

Nice sled. It's probably the same model if not the same year. Wow.

I'd like to see all this nonsensical crap e.g. handlebar height, exhaust height etc. just gone from the books.

WA is OK, handlebars can be 30in from seat, but I mean look at places like Canada in which two people riding together constitutes a "gang".... Jesus.

You want to help, start off small, stop shopping at walmart, dont watch mtv, in fact, dont watch tv period, read read read read read, educate yourself, education is the key to change, and dont surrender to apathy, if people weren't so apathetic we wouldn't have most of the problems we do now.......

how romanticly quixotic anyone wants to be is a matter of personal taste and temperment. our priorities, collectively, do create the 'markets' or incentives that ultimately create the conditions we individualy experience. what we can probably all do without pushing more risk or bravado then would be reasonable to ask of anyone other then one's self, is to nonconfrontationaly avoid rewarding and romantacizing among other things aggressiveness and the corporatocracy. we do vote with every penny we spend or don't spend and those votes always count, even when and if elections are otherwise complete sham and fraud. which i'm not say they are or not. as to that i honestly don't know and have no way to be sure one way or the other. but our priorities, the ones we actualy live by, do add up. what i've heard makes sense, is buy localy as much as possible. grow as much yourself of what you consume as you can if you can. and the more you can avoid dependence on oil consumption the better. if you can avoid owning or driving an automobile do so. if you can even reduce your driving by walking, biking and/or public transit do so. if enough people actualy did that it could indeed make a difference. and it perhapse goes without saying, practice consideration and mindfullness.

    Imhip,
Went through your links about motorbiking..
    Great..ABATE..sounds similar to MAG Belgium.
we have about 10.000 members...and our main
office is very concerned about motorbikers..
    this means improving safety..road signalisation..
traffic rules..jurisdiction on bike accidents etc..
Last year(august 2004)I was involved in a road accident..
I did plan a ride with a small group of six bikers..
it had rained that day..on a small road in a turn..
5 of us slipped..with reasonable damage on our bikes..
oil on the road..how to prove where the oil came from??
Our organisation has put a laywer on this case..
which after 1 year...we won..and we got paid for damages..
I'm moderator on our bike forum..and recently been given
more responsabilities..I used to be on travell section..
but now I also have to assist on political..safety..
member section etc..this will take a lot of my time..
I hope i can still post off and on in Heavy Metal Thunder..
Iron Goth has put up a nice bike forum there:)
