I got hooked on bluegrass. Dan Tyminski, Alison Krauss and Union Station, soon followed by Dolly Parton and her bluegrass albums. I already knew and enjoyed the Dixie Chicks. And now I have found Nickle Creek.

Can someone suggest artists I haven't heard and should hear.

Being a girl that leans toward all things pop and rock, I was suprised at how much I like bluegrass music. Even went to see Alison Krauss and Union Station with Dan Tyminski live. Really fantastic show. Would love to go to a festival. Anyone know of any in California?

Well, any education you can offer about bluegrass is great. Thanks.

the closest these guys will get to SoCal is San Fran on 11-20 but they are awesome new bluegrass. they rocked this town Friday night last, otherwise I recommend Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Yonder Mtn, Hot Buttered Rum, you'll kind what you like out there if you seek, glad for the new revolution of bluegrass. funny when that O Brother stuff came out, how it sparked up. I have loved bluegrass for donkey's years, and the new stuff is so so good, as well as the old stuff too.

if youre really hooked on bluegrass, then i would suggest you start listening to some. try some del mcoury band, if you want someone who is alive, or check out some bill monroe or vassar clemmens, if you want someone who is dead.

In my opinion a good transition may be The Greencards.
