the more love you give it, the taller it will grow. therefor, its height is only limited by the amount of love you give it.

well me and a friend were walkin in the woods together and we saw a mj plant that must have been 5' 7" tall judging by how much taller it was campared to us. Is this a normal size for weed growin in the woods or what?

yeah big bong, i have seen aCoupple of plants around here that could be mistaken for a pot plant.
But yeah, 5 to seven feet is perfectly normal for a sativa plant in the outdoors.

well waht makes you think it is? jsut the leaves? check for bud, thats the best way to determine it. the plant should be rather green, with big leaves, and trees that big are meant to be shaped like pinetree arent they? well anyway, look at pictures of buds and see if its got them.

Ok, make sure you see buds in order to confirm that it's MJ, if there are buds, take a magnifying glass (stronger the better) and look for the trichromes (little bubble shaped things on the leaves by the buds and the buds, these contain the cannaboids and THC) If this plant has kind of fat leaves (5-11 fingers always) then it's indica, if it has pointy narrow fingers, it's sativa. Sativa is grown in places like Jamaica, but indica can grow anywhere pretty much, even in Montana. 5' 7" is about the hieght of a normal indica, sativas can get MUCH taller, the tallest I've heard is 15', I'm not shitting you, and that was before it even matured! (feds got it) keep us updated on this one.

I had a friend back home in Vermont that started most of his plants indoors in the early winter. By the time he put them out in late May, they were all a good six feet tall going into the ground. Most of them ended up growing to be in the neighborhood of 12 feet.

That was fairly strain specific - he just had large growing sativa strains. It was just his way of doing things - he would rather have a good 10 monsters outdoors than have to care for 30 smaller ones - plus the majority of the federal penalties are based upon number of plants not size. Yes, weight is a factor in sentencing for possesion and intent to distribute penalties, but cultivation charges in general focus on the number of plants.

That's cool, hey, does anyone know the landrace strain from the philipinnes or somewhere around there (indonesia?) that gets like 20 feet high? I think I saw it on overgrow.com under strains, i'll be right back, checking that out.

It's actually from Vietnam, it's called Dalat and gets over 20 feet http://www.overgrow.com/strainguide/Vietnam/Dalat/907/#g907 read all about it on that link.
Well that's the largest so far, now the smallest would probably be lowryder, an indica/ruderalis cross. It's a great plant to grow because you don't have to worry about lighting, it flowers automatically because of the ruderalis. it takes 2 months from seed to harvest.
