Do you remember on my closet purge ? I had put those old, worn down boots

into the trash bag together with dirt, cooked food and other trash that not recycled. Last week I discussed with my neightbor whether the blue recycling bag is the better choice for old shoes. Think those old boots were hideous, unhygienic, not recyclable materials...just worthless rubbish !!! Recyclers want things that are easily recycled like plastic, newspaper, glass.
My question is: Who had right in this discussion ?

well, they are leather, so if oxygenated will break down, but modern landfills are designed to not allow enough oxygen in to do that.

I'd have dropped them at a thrift at least.

    and wasn't this in Random?

Those old boots were really not vintage -- just ridiculously outdated, hideous style and discarded. I know that Nike takes used old athletic shoes and grinds them up. That´s cool recycling. Around here- those old boots would not be accepted as recyclable materials. I´m not the queen of tossing things into the trash bag but they were too hideous to use them as planter in the garden :lol. Does anyone have any idea if there is a way to recycle old, worn down shoes/boots or definately worthless rubbish ?
