I'm not gonna buy into any of that bad karma crap some demented souls have been dishing out about the man. Sure he had fame and fortune, and he mighta come across as arrogant to some, but that just goes with the territory of being a public figure, that's not what he stood for or what he was about. His message was peace, pure and simple, and for that, may hat's off to him...

I spent much of yesterday listenening to accounts of him and reading stuff about him on the internet. I guess his message of peace didn't go over so well with the powers that be, and the Nixon administration was very threatened. It's hard to maintain an agenda of oppression and greed when you've got someone who's so popular advocating peace. In one account (Democracy Now, I believe it was) they were talking about how the FBI 25 years later is still trying to keep files regarding his assassination secret, their reasoning being it's a matter of "National Security." National Security my ass!

I'm pretty new here...and lurk mostly, but just wished to point out that it seems to me that anyone who holds themselves up to being someone that has love and light to dish out then likes to stir up peoples emotions on a memorial thread should not call themselves "hippy type folks"...

Its very misleading to be all "ooohhh I'm so hip, and we have land and we would love to have all you groovy people out here to share in all this nature and we're so cool, and stay as long as you want...ooohhh we just love living this kind of life...THEN come on here where people are sharing whats in their hearts...and just being downright mean...if you don't like John Lennon, or did not like his music FINE but you are aware of your intent here...and its just to stir it up.
