Sex is merely an expression of lust. Loyalty and monogamy are expressions of love.

If all you know of sex is lust, then you are missing out on the best parts.

Monogamy is merely a social convention. It does not necessarily have anything to do with Love. It has more to do with fear and a sense of inadequacy. There are many of us who will have no part of monogamy, but understand love quite well.

Monogamy usually involves jealousy, which is a pure expression of selfishness and a lack of self-confidence. No love there!

    More Love

    Less Fear

Love is not dependant on monogamy. You can love someone dearly, and they love can you, and you can have a great sex life together. But if you have casual sex with someone outside of the relationship, does this automatically mean that your love has evaporated? Gone, lost, disappeared into the wind forever? I think not.

It is nice to have sex with someone you love, there is a tenderness and connection that is hard to beat. And it is nice to have sex with someone who just enjoys a hot and sweaty encounter. You have to learn your way around her body, what turns her on. She responds differently to your kisses, your touch. Everything about her is new and fascinating; the way she touches you, her taste, her smell.

Surprisingly, the next time you have sex with your partner, you feel renewed, refreshed, reinvigorated. Sex is not routine, it becomes charged with eroticism again. Your sexual self has been re-awakened and you are on a high for a few days or weeks afterwards. Perhaps the improvement to your own sex life is not a surprise...

Well said - with the proviso that no one is doing any lying about what they are doing. That produces guild, worry, and when it does come out in the open, and it always does, anger.

    green,
i'm sorry that i disagree with your health teacher. sex has nothing to do with rape. i was a rape counselor and rape is used for control, manipulation, abuse and fear to the victims. i can't believe your health teacher said that. i do believe that sex can be an expression of love between consenting adults. i'd like to know where he/she got that information.

well when you are having sex with someone you are "sexing" them...i guess

so when you are being raped they are "raping" you

i think sexing and raping are different things and your teacher is wrong

sex IS an expression of love.....assuming it's not a one night stand or a hooker

sex can be like a competion, or an ego thing (i fucked this guy is this band, or this miss universe.... i came 5 times........she calling me all the time, she's desperate......blabla, there are so many bad reason to have sex, trust me)
Sex can be super physical pleasure, like taking some kinda drug, but natural (it's addictive, oh yes.....) So sex is not so beautiful and innocent and perfect as we think, EVEN when we are in love (that is, we think that we are in love, love is the biggest mindfuck, love is very easy to fake, bur real love exist of course, but, remember, love makes u blind.... real love doesnt make you blind......)

I clicked "yes" only because I chose to speak for myself, and only myself. For ME sex is an expression of love, because i PERSONALLY do not want to have sex without love. I have been with ONE person in my whole life, the person I am with right now, and it came from love. For me, that's the only way I think I could have sex.

For others, do what you will, with a condom. Cheers!

As people have said before, it depends on the situation. The first few times i had sex, it was nothing more than physical gratification and it felt empty. now that i met the love of my life, sex means so much more and its like a physical form of love. i had never "made love" before now. you have to be in love with a person to feel that connection through sex. thats just my opinion.

True that it depends on the person and situation. I have done it to just have meaningless fun, but it Definitely is an expression of true love when you really love your partner. Seems obvious but very true.

Here Here Hippy chick666. just wait until you meet the next love of your life, and the next, and the next..... there is not one soulmate for each of us, there are thousands if not millions of potential "soul mates". It is not a unique thing, but an extremely valuable one none the less! recognising the opportunity and making the most of it is the key!

sex = physical act of reproduction

love = desire for another person or thing

we have sex with other people at times because we're horny as hell, and there are times when we love them.

It all depends on context, but I voted yes that sex is an act of love myself, bit of a sap :D

We were talking about this the other night.. and we kinda decided that sex is what your perception of it determines it is.

To some like the mormons there is only one purpose to having sex. Their perception is that sex is for reproduction and that is it. And if you look at it that way it kinda loses its emotional connection and definitely loses its sensual connection and becomes far more mechanical.

Then you have strippers, porn stars, and hookers. For whatever various reasons (and trust me there are a lot of valid ones) these people are either forced to or choose to profit from either sexual pleasure or just the mechanical act of sex itself. I could def. see a porn star profitting more from pleasure than a prostitute.. but its really hard to generalize people especially when everyone has their own story and own perception of sex.

I know this one girl who takes sex very emotionally and because of that I need to be on the same level as her when we have sex because if I'm not she will always get hurt. To her sex is about sharing emotion whether its love, lust or something else.

For me: sex is all of the things, and depending on the person I'm having sex with that will determine how I act before, after and during sex. The reason for this is I think all the aspects of sex are important and you really miss out when you form strict guidlines to what sex is supposed to be about. I think it is supposed to be about everything mentioned.. sensual & emotional connections, to some profit (not me personally), reproduction and yes in some cases an expression of love.

Sex is I think first made to procreate and then made for plessure. I think that love is being happy with and around someone and giveing someone plessure can be a way of showing them love, so in some cases maybe sex is a way certain people give there love.

    I concur...

It DOES depend on who the person is and what connection you feel (be it emotional or just a physical thing).

If it's just physical then it's nothing more than just meaningless fun. And yet on the other hand it can also be 'simply physical' with somone you love then, it's another way of showing love for that person. So it can be meaningful fun when you do it with somone you love.

    Emotionally-
It can be emotional with someone you don't feel a thing for. In a sense that the other person (usually girls) NO OFFENSE LADIES!! ;) . Often have sex and end up getting emotionally attached to that person.

Just my opinion... use it don't use it...
