well, pot is usually pretty helpful for me. but painkillers, coke, caffeine, lsd, shit like that. will it just murder my creativity or expand it?
It probably depends on each individual, Jojo, but even though you've probably heard this many times and it probably pisses you off: 'don't be in a rush to do something you might regret later'. My advice is to take things a little slower. Live your life a bit. See some places. Shag some French girls. That stuff will never go away and you can always come back to it later if you want.
i remember my dad once told me that when he did drugs, he thought he was the best writer in the world. then he looked back on what he wrote, and realized that it was crap when he wasn't high.
when i smoke pot, i am too lazy to write lol.......when i was hooked on pills, i was too lazy to write....when i am drinking i can not write but i can pull off putting some serious music to some lyrics..........when i was hooked on uppers like coke and ice i wrote A LOT cause i would get to tweekin and the only way i could keep from going crazy and the on ly way i could hide from the geek monster after being awake for about 5 nights was to write......some of it was good, but a few times i acutally wrote a couple hit songs....not mine..i mean i wrote a hit song that was already out on the radio and thought that it was mine lol........your best bet bud is to stay sober, getting fucked up on drugs is not creative.....what is really creative is to learn how to enjoy life and be high without having to use drugs... peace.
it seems to work at first but it definately stunts creativity in the long run. it des nothing for me now.
id never take acid.... hell no. not concisously anyway.. i may have taken it without realising ... bUt i forgt to mention that in my epxperience, drugs defintaely stall creativity. If i think about it in chemical blance terms... your brain is having to be less creative, becuase its drug fuelled..all the itersting stuff happeeing in your brain and percpetions is from a drug, not from true creativity... you can later your brain tissue by focousing, practising an art....thats REAL creativity imo.
I'm hoping that this forum is a stimulus to writing, mine anyway. It seems like this is a good community to review and critique.... I'm inspired by that. Peace
A big welcome to you Mapa. And thanks. Most of us try to help each other in here so we can develop expression, style, etc. If there's anything we can help you with feel free to ask. Like you said, we're a good community. Feel free to suggest anything on what we write, too. (If you can bear to read it that is )
i like this forum. its not too busy, but has the couple of members that are always there to tell you whats shit and whats good. dig it.
drugs at first make u think ur good. but in the end ur reli bad and it all goes pear, look at all the 60's people who started brilliantly but went downhill, eg.Hendrix, Lennon etc
You're right there. A lot of people seem to have the false impression that these legendary people owed part of their creativity to drugs, when in fact they were immensely unique and talented people in the first place. I don't doubt that certain hallucinogens open gateways to inspiration, but to rely on them as some steroid for the brain seems to me ill-informed. Obviously I don't want to condone what we do in life. Our civil liberties are dissipating around us as we speak. What I would suggest, is to be open with everything there is in life. Especially if you're going to write. Rather than focus on one thing as a source, you can also use music, meditation (doesn't have to be religious), even sport (which I shy from), cooking, architecture, travelling, generally watching people, how they move, talk etc. If you were to sit down and write the things that can inspire you, you would write a book just on that. I smoke like a chimney. I know it's very bad for me and that I am a big idiot for doing it. But I don't think for a minute that I owe any inspiration to cancer tubes. Everything you write is what's within you, it's part of you. It's the small footprint you leave in the sand before the tide washes it away. You don't need any catalyst for that. You just need to be honest with yourself.
well i dont use drugs as a source of inspiration, as that limits you greatly...i think they pretty much wore out the lsd lyrics and past that theres not a whole lot of interesting shit to write ABOUT drugs. but to use marijuanna to help you get in touch with your creativity is great...i always imagine it as turning off my self censoring mechanism so i get a freer flow of ideas. or maybe it just changes my point of view. either are important for interesting writings.
It's also a good way to relax. I don't see any reason why marijuana and cannabis should not be legalized (though I'm diverting a bit, sorry). The effects of alcohol and tobacco have been far more harmful on society. At the end of the day if you can consume a product that is natural and hasn't been tampered with, or hindering your health to a concerning degree, then what the Dickens is wrong with that? If it offers inspiration on top of that, then even better, though I personally find pleanty of inspiration to write from all the curious things my fellow human beings do every day. Especially those distinguished ladies and gentlemen we elect to stick their noses into our lives. P.S. Mapa, we look forward to reading your work and offering any constructive criticism/appraisal that will help you.
For me, it's pot and beer. I get some of my best ideas when i'm baked. I got an idea for a "Mad TV" skit on my buddy, Enzite Bob! Sorry! NO Details until I copyright it!
damn straight w/ the pot i kno how that is...........and i agree w/ the get high on life and not drugs.....ya i do hit the reefer everyonce in awhile when i kno some that has it but thats for recreational use nt to become creative.
i just stick to the natural shit, and hallucinegens. Shrooms, lsd, marijuna,u cant go wrong with that lineup
If you eat mushrooms you will have alot to say, but if you write while tripping it proablly won't come out very good, but yeah tripping will give you insight into life that you can write about, or it might not
