i'm starting a book calls Journal of a Holo-Junky. It should be a very freaky sci-fi book when it's done, but i'm not sure if the format is at all enjoyable, so i'm hoping for some reveiws of the little i've done so far.

the premise is that in the future, holographic entertainment can do everything from replicate sight to touch to smell, even create artificial emotions and movement. A lot of people escape reality with these machines, and this is the story of one of them.

I managed to get a job today. It took a little acting, but I managed to convince the boss there that I was the parent of five kids, and living without a spouse. The fifty I paid those kids was worth it. Without their pictures, I may not have convinced him. I guess the only people that look more disheveled then holo-junkies are parents. Poor bastards.

My latest creation may be worth recording. It starts off with myself getting put into a stasis machine for millions of years. While I’m frozen, a quantum black hole passes between Earth and the asteroid belt. The gravity causes Earth to move near the belt, and is pelted by thousands of rocks. This happens around the year 12,806, and the humans have enough knowledge to predict the devastation beforehand. While most humans decided to move to interplanetary-stations, others dug deep into the Earth. Carefully made caverns are miles long, and over a hundred feet in diameter, far below the surface. The caverns spread through most of the world, and are close enough the core of the earth to harness its heat.

At this point in time, the humans foresaw inevitable damage from tectonic plates shifting. They decided to begin a massive worldwide program that could stabilize all geological activity, at the expense of the crater filled surface. While the caverns were saved, the already uninhabitable above world became one ocean.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten. I enjoyed making the bizarre future so much that I haven’t even bothered to live in it yet. The image of meteors hitting a world covered with one shallow ocean, ripples spreading across the Earth, was amazing.
