    hippie hottie,

My family, and I, have friends who live in the borough of Clymer, Pennsylvania. It's just 9 miles northeast of Indiana, Pennsylvania, which is the hometown of Jimmy Stewart (the famous actor). In Indiana, PA there is even a small airport named after Jimmy Stewart! Also, there is even a bronze statue of Jimmy Stewart, at the City Government Building. Where is Clymer? From Pittsburgh, go east on Highway 22, to 22/119, then go north (left) on highway 119, to Indiana, PA. Clymer, PA is just north of Indiana, PA, off of Highway 286.

Many times my family, and I, would go to our friends in Clymer, PA during Thanksgiving, or visit on a summer vacation. The University of Pennsylvania-INDIANA is in Indiana, PA. Instead of saying "You All", they say "Yuans" (You Ones?). It's like an Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvanian local type of accent. I can recognize this accent right away, because I've heard it so many times. So, Yuans come back!

Pittsburgh has improved greatly over the years. It used to be highly-polluted, and smelly, steel city, but not any more! It's been cleaned-up and fixed-up quite nicely! Plus, cool hills! Have you ever been to KENNYWOOD Amusement Park, in West Mifflin, PA (on the Monogahela River), just south of Pittsburgh? They have THE STEEL PHANTOM roller coaster, which drops 225' (at 80 MPH, or more) down a gentle cliff, toward the Monogahela River! WHAT A RUSH!!! KENNYWOOD is over 100 years old! They sell world famous fries! My parents even went there, but they didn't do any rides. Check it out!

I've also been to the LANCASTER, PA area (Bird In Hand, PA and Intercourse, PA). DUTCH WONDERLAND is an old kiddie amusement park there. Quite tame to KENNYWOOD! There are alot of AMISH tourist places there. Hershey, PA smells like chocolate!... m m m ...Plus, they have some nice rose gardens, plus an amusement park. I've been to Philly and went inside of INDEPENDENCE HALL and saw the good old Liberty Bell! It's still cracked! Another time that I went back there, a military man showed us the original key that opened the front doors! I love those PHILLY CHEESE-STEAK sandwiches!

My mother loved to visit Pennsylvania and Virginia. There's alot of good places to visit in Pennsylvania. During Spring Break, my family liked to rent a motel/kitchenette on Virginia Beach, Virginia, and stay a week. Nice azalea blossoms in spring! Cool beach and a big naval base. The Association for Research and Enlightenment has its headquarters there. Remember the famous Prophet Edgar Cayce? That's his relative's organization (i.e. A.R.E.). John Lennon was supposedly a member and even bought property in Virginia, Beach. I've been to Richmond, VA and THE MONTICELLO (home of Thomas Jefferson). One summer, my family, and I, went to the A.R.E.'s summer camp in Rural Retreat, VA (way on the extreme west side of Virginny).

Years later, my sister, and her husband moved to Norfolk, VA for a job with the NAVY (as civilians, though). Later, they worked for TENNECO, in the same area, dealing with battleships and aircraft carriers. They've since moved back and live close to me, now, in Michigan. So I've been around Pennsylvania and Virginia, alot.

"God's Eyes" were popular in the late 60's and early 70's. You take two sticks, tie them into a cross shape, then wind yarn around, to create a diamond yarn pattern, with different colors. It was a folksy, craft item.

    Yuans come back!

    Peace, love and understanding . . .
