I'm having a bit of trouble with the Diva Cup. I've tried it a few times and it's ok for a few minutes, then it feels like it's pinching me. On the outside, not the inside. It's VERY uncomfortable. I don't know if I can trim the stem on the Diva Cup. Has anyone else had this problem?

I used the keeper, which is the rubber version of the diva cup.

On that, you were SUPPOSED to cut the stem to whatever works best for you (it was in the instructions). I chopped the stem off pretty short on mine (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch?).

The Keeper's stem is MUCH longer than the one on the Diva. It recommends that you trim it in the instructions. In the Diva Cup instructions, it says that some people trim it just a bit, but most leave it alone. It's only about 1/2 inch long. I think the problem is that it's hollow and the open end gets some suction to it and hooks itself onto my labia. Maybe that's what's pinching.

When you put it in, do you make sure to pinch the base [not the stem] and rotate it a full 360 degrees????? That makes the world of difference...and while you do that, make sure to push it up, inside just a little bit more. It works well that way I've found...

Also make sure that the cup isn't folded or anything while it's in you. It must be completely expanded to it's normal shape.

If THAT doesn't work, then try cutting the stem. It won't hurt it.

I use the Mooncup and I love it! It was the best decision I could have made regarding my period and now I find it easier and cleaner and of course more environmental than pads or tampons.

Here's a link that I've referred alot of ladies to, you'll find alot of advice on there for your diva... http://www.livejournal.com/community/menstrual_cups/

It felt open to me. I twisted it several times and felt all around the edge to make sure there were no crimps or folds. I'll try trimming the stem for the next cycle. Thanks for the help, ladies!
