Ok... so I've been with this cat for 8 years and I or should I say we, want to get married.
I don't want a big wedding with all the people and the big dress and all that money spending. i really don't care for that. I just want some sort of ceremony were we exchange vows and promise our love forever.
I don't want a priest or a judge... i don't need a paper to proove anything. Just me, him, and some close friends.
i would like some sort or blessing of spiritual sort. somewere were we feel in touch with nature... here in PR there are many many places so that wont be so hard.
but i guess i'm missing something...
    has anyone done this?
    how was it?
    i need ideas
    anyone??

    That's wonderful :)

Congrats on finding someone so special, hope you have a long happy life together.

A handfasting would work very well, you can pretty much take the basic framework and write your own ceremony.
There are some wonderful native American marriage blessings, or use another culture you connect with.

    Good luck

I went to a courthouse to get married because I didn't want a big wedding, and I really didn't want anyone there except for us. I would have loved to have my "wedding" in the woods though. Are you really against having a priest or a judge perform the ceremony? My friend had a wedding on the beach and they found a minister at some church that was willing to marry them where ever they wanted. Maybe you should check into it.

haha i thought you literally ment "cat" but anyway congrats!
maybe you should try sort of an earthy/renaissance type wedding.
like in the woods as already mentioned

I looked up the hanfasting, I loved the idea... I already have an idea on the place and the colors I should use. I found a lot of info.

Funny you thought I wanted to marry my cat...lol

And I don't believe in the catholic church or any church for that matter... I can't see myself being maried by one, it would be hipocritical.
    And a judge... I don't know... I don't feel I need one...

Handfasting??! How lovely .... a ritual in which you and your so called beloved tie hands together with a piece of rope. Clearly a display of some sort of dominance and submission. Why not add Jump the Broom to the ceremony since you're probably going to be the one to sweep up after him.

well, sorry, but i am the cynical one here, my advice, don't get married..... been engaged two times...never again. but wish you any way a happy marriage. remember to keep your head cold from time to time..... and remember what YOU want (sometitmes people get confused by what they want and what their partner want) learn to keep a secret place of yours (i mean inside you), that he can't touch or see or know. Ok, of course this is just an advice, hope you find and get a beautiful relation

Pssh, people can't marry their pets until gay marriage is legal. Then everyone will want to marry their pets!

I don't see it as a display of dominance or submission, but of a union between two people who love each other.
those two words don't exist in our relationship.
I have my reasons for wanting a special ceremony.
all relationships are diferent, you shouldn't judge mine.

I wasn't judging your relationship. I was commenting on handfasting. I find it a vulgar ritual. Why not--instead of releasing doves--you throw buckets of coqui to the four cardinal points <North, South, East and West>.
