im sure people wrtie about this all the time, but i want to make sure im being "healthy" i got my belly button pireced, and listened really close to how he said to clean it. i have my ears pierced 6 times on both ears, so i know about how to clean them, but i've had a histroy of getting them infected. so.... i am taking extra special care of this one. i wash it 2ce a day, using only either sea salt in water or i take a shower and wash it by putting the soap on it and using hot water. i wash it no more then 2 times a day and no less than 3 times. ha. i've increased my showering by so much! i try not to touch it at all, i dont let anyone else touch it, and im wearing loose clothing right now so i dont irritate it. are there anymore suggestions you can think of to keep it in good shape, or any cleaning methods you can think of?
BUT it is pink around it, and it has what appers to be dried skin or a little crust (sorry for the detail) is this normal? thanks!!!

Sounds like you're taking care of it great. I cleaned mine with castile soap everyday in the shower and rinsed it well with saline. You can sea salt soak it as well. Just don't let people touch it and don't touch it with dirty hands and it should be great.

SOunds like you're on the right track. Basically, piercings should be washed a couple times a day with a mild soap, and rinsed with saline 3-4x a day. The key is to not let anyone touch it for any reason. I had a piercer who used to tell me that every time you touched your piercings without washing your hands, you'd add a week to the healing time. I dunno if its true, but keeping your hands off it is the best way to prevent infections.

If you've had p[roblems with your ears being infected, you should consider changing jewelry. Sometimes people are allergic to nickel which causes inflammation. Stainless steel, gol, or titanium are safer bets

    Peace
