Does anyone know if it is possible to grow shrooms in your garden rather than in a contained space. What kind of substrate could you use. Are there issues with sterility and how is sterility generally checked while picking shrooms in the wild. thanks for your help. Also does anyone pick mushies in Australia or know some spots there atleast.

first of all, do not ever ask for sources/locations of anything..do your own research=)

as for growing mush outside, I will tell you this much. I live in the northeastern part of USA. The only naturally occuring type of psilo here is pan. subb.

As for growing psilo cubensis out here, if you do a standard PF type thing indoors, and get the jars fully colonized. Then mix hay, and cow shit, and put in alot of ground up cake material, mush will grow out of it...I am 95% sure though it would work 10x better to get like a large flower pot or something, and put the hay/cowshit/mycellia in there, as opposed to doing it directly in the ground, as there are alot of bugs around here that will eat the stuff right up...good luck!

dig a hole for the substrate to case the cakes...You really need an outdoor tek to follow. Try the shroomery's cultivation forum.

Sterility is very important...is why you need to have fully colonized cakes. Expect some contams and grow them in a very shady spot. Your local climate will only allow you to grow certain types.

There's lots of them in Australia! Try the hunting forum at the Shroomery but don't post there looking for partners or spots, pm members when you have a decent post count. and yes I'm a member there. Look for me under this s/n!
