use some freaking logic for once, man. you say you love your fellow human beings but yet you support people who kill human beings. you are nothing but a hypocrite. what you are saying is no different from "well, i would never get an abortion but who am i to say that people cant" or "i would never molest a child but who am i to tell the catholic priests that have that its wrong." ignorance is bliss i suppose.
you should definitely do that man. come at the end of july, we can go to the grateful garcia gathering yo... and i can probably get us backstage to get higher than high with teh bands. :sunglasse
Thanks Rayne and all you others for your support. And all you who think I'm full of crap, I do see where you're coming from, but I think that it's possible for me and everyone else to support the people who end up having to fight in wars. These people aren't evil and bloodthirsty (for the most part...), but mostly desperate for a way out of their living situation. Ever been to a depressed town? The local MALL will usually have a permenant recruiting station in it. People in bad economic situations are tying to find a way out of that situation, as was the case for my friend, a child in a HUGE family. His little brother couldn't go to the hospital after having a seizure because they didn't have health insurance last year. So my friend went into the Marines, and got away from the poverty of his situation. Look at the military today--I'm sure that over half of the recruits are from impoverished areas/families. It might be a horrible thing for them to do, but lots of people don't know better! ~Nova
People aren't joining for money, they are joining for an education. Which is essential to live in comfort. Not all people join the army, and are in battle, there are endless options in joining the military. war sucks, innocent people die. I can't imagine living through an everyday battle, but it was already started, and there is no way for the u.s. to leave. Most of the troops are young, uneducated, poor men who don't have other options at home. death sucks, I wish it wasn't a part of life, but it is. You're right, i am an illogical hypocrite. But at least i'm not some stoner from canada...
You may have logic and a brain, and you may even be a liberal, but you have no heart. I think it's a tough issue on how to feel about people who vote/support killing the thousands of innocents etc. But to give a wink and a condescending "duh" is not the way. Support shouldn't even be a question. Some people won't understand things even with the truth staring at em in the face. You can give up, or, if you love them, you can not. Good luck with your friend, hopefully it won't get a whole lot harder with him in the marines.
I'm highly skeptical that most people go to university for the education; they go for the increased earning potential, which translates to "comfort" as you call it. Anybody willing to go to war and kill for "comfort" deserves any death they receive. But every single member of the military is part of the war machine, and is thus collectively responsible for every death. Just like every single American who voted for Bush, or didn't vote is also collectively responsible for every death. You should never have been there in the first place. Now you should hand over control to the UN, or NATO if they are willing (very doubtful), and then reimburse every single country for every single dollar they spend on rebuilding Iraq. Can you follow the logic if I dangle it in front of your face? "Many young, uneducated, poor men" do not join the army. Therefore, there must be some other option. I'm not arguing against "death." I'm arguing against needless deaths so that Americans can drive their SUVs. Dumb too. Maybe you should go kill some rag-heads for a free college education. More like an ex-stoner Canadian who drinks champagne to 9/11.
with all these suicide bombers they do nothing mosquito's kill more people every second in Africa let them kill themselves if they are that stupid that way we get rid of them with all bombings Allah will happy and wont be lonely. brain wanted
Never once did I say the reason we went into Iraq was justified. Obviously it's for oil, and for bush to complete his father's fuck ups. I support the troops, and not the war. Nothing you can say will change my view, and there is nothing that I can say to change yours. agree to disagree. chill out.
you have to be pretty damn evil to fight in a war that wasn't instigated by someone else under your own free will. so it is okay for poor people to join the army simply because they are poor? there are millions of poor people in america who haven't joined the army, do you support them just the same? do you feel for them the same as you feel for the bastards who joined the military simply because they didnt want to face life? such is life in america.... but it is okay to kill for the government simply because you dont have life insurance? is that what you are saying? what a piece of shit.
--I'm sure that over half of the recruits are from impoverished areas/families. It might be a horrible thing for them to do, but lots of people don't know better!
so its okay to that they are fighting in a war on their own simply because they are too ignorant to know that there are peaceful ways out of poverty?
once again: who are the people taking over the oil fields? i dont see dick cheney out there anybody with a mind of their own wouldn't fight for that reason. why would you support someone who cant think for himself? you have no idea how dumb that makes you sound. yet you're the one who kept posting
First of all, you are welcome. Second, you are right that not all of these people are blood-thirsty killers! If you look at who the army targets, it is minorities who have most often been neglected, mistreated, looked down upon and poor. The reason they join is because they see the army offering a chance at being uplifted as a hero, not being stuck in poverty, and all that. I am not going to use the word "support" for how I treat the soldiers. I don't know what word would be best, but I am not going to be a jerk to them, salute them, or treat them like a hero. They seem to me like mixed up people who need someone to show them love and understanding in order to see the truth...
But every single military member is a part of the war-machine, by choice. Therefore, they are in fact killers. Blood-thirsty, probably not, but fucking retarded anyways. What exactly are you trying to say here? That minorites can't think for themselves? That they are somehow immune to morality? You'd better explain this, because right now you sound like a racist. Once again, none of these justify the murder and rape of a nation. Well, regardless of semantics, what you are doing is supporting the troops. Silence is support. Anything but treating them like the dirty fucking criminals they are is supporting them. When in reality, they are no different than any other murderers (except with uniforms and better guns) and need to be put down like rabid dogs.
