Any book with no happy ending and lost opportunity. The right people end up with the wrong ones or no-one at all.

They don't quite make me cry, but they're sad (Good, but sad) books-
Pet Sematery (Spelling mistake included :)) and The Dead Zone both by Stephen King. I won't spoil the plots but I really recommend them.

The Stoning of Soroya M. by Freidoune Sahebjam

its a true story the author went and talked to a village of people who took part in the stoning of a young women, these included her own family, her elderly father her husband her two sons and all the people of her village people who had known her all her life .

if youve ever seen a stoning its very slow and painfull the stones they use are ones that cant kill you with one hit , if your a women they bury you up to your waist in a pit you cant run you just sit there with your upper body as a target .

she was stoned for adultery but most likely even that was a set up job by her husband , she offered no defence because she knew she didnt have a chance , the story isnt that unusual whats unusual is someone was bothered enough to write a book about it .

there is a extract of some of the book here

a video of stoning from iran

Freidoune Sahebjam had to leave iran after writing the book I think he now lives in france

The Silmarillion by J.r.r.Tolkien: Of Beren and Luthien always gets me teary.
I know this is really sad... but Harry Potter and the half blood Prince made me cry. Last few pages i was a waterfall.
And to be a complete cliche, The Alchemist made me cry as well as Don Qioxte (what Ive got through) and Chekhov's the Cherry Orchard
