A friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself. "

    Jim Morrison

    Well here's the idea.

I need a friend or two to help me with the first tree house that will be built in my moms back yard, (it's huge don't worry) up on a hill in the forest, (I live out by the base of the Cascade Mountains in Washington). The main idea behind building one HERE first is that we could work out of it as a base camp, gathering material, gas money, kayak money and most importantly gaining the knowledge about how exactly the design will unfold once the building process begins on the actual communal site on an island in the mid latitudes of British Columbia, hence the kayaks, he he. I have the design of the house already made out and all the supplies (wood) we'll need to start can be gathered in a short time from logs on the beaches near my house, I've done it before. I already have the tree picked out, (a 150ft Douglas fir) and the endless number of BC islands and locations can be decided on later, there's a ton of them. I've been working with wood my entire life and would wish that you would have some craftsman skills as well or at least no fear of heights. Here's a brief description of the design. One Tree, 6 big ropes 40 feet long, six 15 foot sturdy beams or logs, ropes are attached to the tree at the highest point on the ceiling of the tree house (140 feet up), ropes dangle down and each are attached singularly to one of each of the sturdy beams. The beams are then attached to the tree at the opposite side from the rope forming a 90 degree angle with the tree, (the part we'll later be standing on) it will basically look like a TP placed 100 feet up in a tree. We'll build a panorama deck which will make for a perfect view of the Cascade Range, trust me it's beautiful. The roof will be composed of cedar strips covered with moss; I have a ton of it. We'll put a little wood stove in it and I can make the furniture myself. I plan on having a main floor and a loft for sleeping. There's a stream near by for water and solar panels to charge batteries for power.

The idea may seem radical but why shouldn't you give it a try, I have all the tools already, and you can shack up with me in my room or up in the house once it's livable. I have access to a winch so I'm considering building part of the roof on hinges, for during the summer time when it’s pretty hot around here. I love to read and have found peace through mainly the teachings of Timothy Leary, Ram Dass and Aldous Huxley. I really take their words to heart. If you need encouragement feel free to call or email me with you're concerns and thoughts, I'll be more than happy to talk it through with you. Also, since in this lifetime I've been chosen as the forerunner for this project and lifestyle change, (not leader, but forerunner) I'd love to hear that you believe in some of the three author’s philosophies in which they preach. Well, my post is already too long, so I'll wrap it up with a list of ways I view myself starting with physical, 6'3" 180lbs Taurus, psychically fit, mainly fearless, airplane pilot, read a lot, expand my mind regularly with pot and once so far with LSD, built and drive a custom made VW bus, believe life’s goal is to know yourself and how to operate your brain, love pink Floyd, current book "Steppenwolf" by Herman Hesse (great) refuse to ride along with the current materialistic society we grew up in, will be home schooling my future children while my wife and I either live communally or on a sailboat allowing our children to have a much more cultured life than I ever did, I'm single and strait by choice, and dislike modern day possessions like normal houses and cars which force us to work until we're sixty when by then it's too late to "Start" living, as I hear some members of my small town of Granite Falls talking about. The time to start is now, as soon as possible, start learning how to operate our brains, it can be so much fun, a life not ruled by larval, sedated, anesthetic thoughts about possessions. A simple base camp and a life long quest of going within is all any of us really need. We're already so rich, let's be brothers or sister brother together and form our own realities.
    Peace,

    George

Sounds interesting. I hope you post some pictures of your tree house once you are done.

I recently thought of building a tree house setup in a swamp area that as far as I know nobody owns. There is a nice lake nearby on a farm that is full of fish. I cant build anything on the farm for obvious reasons, but the owners don’t seem to mind people fishing on there lake.

This sounds like a totally awesome idea...A couple years ago, I did a google to see what possiblities are out there for living in a treehouse after watching a show on tv called weird homes...it seems like it is do-able...it would be a cool place.
