Ok Normally I don't care what people think about how I look, but I don't want to look totally lame. So, opinions!

I have this Harley Davidson motorcyle jacket from when I was 16 years old. That makes it a little over 10 years old. It's still in awesome shape. But in my opinion, biker jackets never really go out of style in their own right. But, what about the look of a biker jacket in general? Sure, they were popular in the 90's, but would I look dorky or outdated if I wore mine now? Or does it really depend on the individual jacket's appearance? Keep in mind this style of jacket is not the sporty motorcyle jacket, like they wear on dirtbikes, but the old-school Harley Davidson type.

My general style is unique anyway, nothing overly flashy but definitely a little different than the "trends" out there right now. I look like I have a hippie edge, I guess you could say, hippie casual, I dunno.

LOL It is pretty freakin' cold here at times during the winter. But what's funny is I don't have a Harley. No, that's not funny, that's just sad :( But I have dreamt of a Harley ever since I was 11 years old, I don't care about speed, Harley's rock. I've been on both a Harley, a non-Harley, and a Ninja-type and nothing beats the Harley between MY legs. ;) I didn't care for the Ninja-type.

wear it. you will eventually get the bike and get a reminder that it is better to replace a jacket than your own skin!
Plus, the cyborg effect will keep people from hasssling you.

I love the biker culture, and all that jazz, but i cant picture a harley jacket on you! i'd put it on ebay if you're still not sure.

Another reason I love this jacket so much. It's sturdy!! The leather is very thick but at the same time it is comfortable to wear. I know that if I get into an accident wearing this thing, it's gonna save a lot more than if I wasn't wearing it.

Cyborg effect??? How would that keep people from hassling me? Something about my cyborg ears combined with a biker jacket is threatening? LOL

I can't believe I'm posting these. But, here are some pictures from when I was 16 or 17, with my jacket. I wore it all the time and it was my style. My style's different but the jacket still fits it.

Of course in these pics the jacket is not nearly as old as it is now. These are from about 10 years ago!!!

Bomber jackets are always in style. The only negative comments I've gotten are from people who have leather issues.

I had a bomber jacket too, way before I ever had this one. I didn't like it very much.

Other than the vents, what is the difference between bomber and biker jackets?

dude, biker jakets on chicks are hot. who cares if it's in or whatnot. i don't think it even really matters. it's like one of those things that aren't in trends anyway, they're a "fashon" of their own.

when i was in 8th or 9th grade i was really into punk, mostly 80's style punk, as far as the look was concerned. so i took my favorite fitted demim jacket and put pyrimid spikes and local punk band patches on it (and a misfits one) - it's so 80's. and i still wear it from time to time because i like how it looks and it looks good on me. ummm.. i dunno if that helps...

i guess my point is: if you look good in it, wear it. it doesn't matter if it's in or not - even to people who care.

I ended up passing mine on as well. It was handed down to me and I wasn't wearing it anymore and one of my son's friends really loved it and had already given him a leather jacket that he wasn't wearing. It was a win/win situation. I got rid of something that I wasn't wearing to someone would would really enjoy it and two people got great jackets in the end.
I don't have leather or fur issues. I wouldn't buy a new fur but have been given some old ones from the 60's. One is one of those short mink capes that I want to make into a full length cape (cloth bottom) one day.

she's frighteningly cute (we've met face to face..she lives near my son's dad) and yes, Bree, I think the biker jacket/cyborg ears will intimidate most jerks. I do not, however underestimate the power of Jerkdom in a) colleges and b) Oklahoma!

and if someone does give you shit about the leather, tell them that it is better to use a used leather than create a new synthetic.

But I doubt too many will... you know why the activists go after old ladies in furs? Because the bikersin leather would stomp them.

    Awww gee thanks guys! :)

Good idea. Besides, I don't really care so much about the "activists" hassling me, because I had this jacket before I really started realizing the impact of leather wear. Just because I won't buy leather jackets anymore doesn't mean I am going to give up a perfectly good sturdy one that I already have. It's about personal choice, really. This jacket has been with me through tons of things in my life and changes and hardships and joy, and has a lot of history behind it. It came into my life at a time when I began to "find myself" and become my own person, it signified the beginning of ME, as an individual and not just my mother's daughter. It has even more special meaning to me now because it has my maiden name embroidered in it (to prevent theft when I was in high school) and my maiden name to me represents my true inner self, in a way, as well as the jacket. When I got married, I changed. Not necessarily something I'm proud of, but to make a long story short, a lot of my true self was squashed away in an effort to make someone else happy, and after a few years of that I finally said "enough"... and I began wearing the jacket again as a way of "rebirthing" my true self inside. When I wear it, it reminds me of who I am and that I shouldn't let anyone squash my individuality just because they don't like it or can't stand the attention it may draw. It brings me back to my strong rebellious days in the past when I didn't take shit from anyone. Corny story, I know, but in other words... it has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. It has a lot of pratical purposes too, I don't need a purse when I wear it because like someone said it has tons of zippered pockets. So while I respect and usually support the anti-animal hide activists, if they aren't understanding enough to get it, or open minded enough to accept all that, then I don't care to give them my respect anyway. They remind me of religious bigots who have no respect for other's religious beliefs. I don't respect those people either.

    LOL!!!!!!
