    Amen to that.

Im sick of all these door haters. There was never any band like the Doors. The were just a "Fuck Off" To everything at the time. I cant believe anyone would hate them like that.

jim morrison was not much of a writer, singer, or person. people need to lose their biases, i think most people only like him because he was really hot and he grabbed himself a lot and was an "outlaw"

Well I'm going to disagree there was some beautiful poetry and there was one song in particular that was absolutely gorgeous...(Yes, The River Knows) But I understand that everyone has their own opinion...Thats what the Worst Bands List was...just someone's opinion...

It's not false ...but it's not as simple as this
Like u i like to criticize them 'cause 4me the Doors are not better than a lot of less known bands of the time...but definitly there's something special behind those doors ... i usually like their 2 last album and the rest is great too... but this fanatism is too exagerated ...

Probably without his cult young death and without the movie of Oliver Stone (not that great 4me) ... the band will have 10 X less fans than now...even with their great music...like so many old bands...

i love the Doors....but we can't forget they came out with a lot of shit. the early stuff was good. the stuff in the middle sucks, and the later stuff is pretty damn good. but songs like "touch me"....just suck. but there is so much good stuff....

another time BLENDER messed up was when they named JACK WHITE #17 greatest guitar player. that is such bullshit. he shoudn't be near the top 100, let alone the top 1000!! he's a power chord player, fuck em.

Well I haven't stopped listening to Touch Me since ten years back when I first heard it. This, I can assure, is fully possible even with a pop song. Plus the good news is (in case Touch Me is the only Doors song you've ever heard) they really don't have that many "pop songs" at all. In the contrary, so much of their music is spontaneous, based on free flow of emotion and innovation. Take a song like When the Music's Over. Not a single pop-oriented band could conceive an epic like this! Major part of the song is improvised - Jim Morrison screams, wails, whispers, you name it - and Rob Krieger plays one of his best solos over more than 50 bars. The song is 11 minutes and they keep it highly interesting all the way through, and there is so much new to hear and experienece every single time you hear the song. Things that touch you as well as freak you out. This band held such amazing power and virtuosity and they weren't shy about unleashing it, even if they released the occasional pop single that made them accessible to a larger public. Not a terrible sin in my opinion... especially considering they were always original, always going places.

Yep you said it all ... but "The End" is probably not my fave rock n roll song who make more than 10 min.
I listen your last words of your post...it's alright but many bands at that time were original and adventurous...

Even a song like "Touch Me"... i find it really good. He sing like a hippie version of Sinatra or Bacharach...it's weird but ...but he do it with style...

I agree that the doors are had the greatest songs, but still I don't like all of them. Some songs like:the end,l'america, not to touch the earth etc. I listen only when I'm high.My personal opinion is that Jim is the sexiest man in the world(too bad that he's dead now).Peace, love, unity!!!!!

Doors arn't that great. Jim Morison's voyce isn't real smooth. Their music is just too organic sounding for me, you know like not texturized and smooth enough. Ray Mackazak is pretty good though. They're okay, but they could use more synthasizers.

Sorry man. I know what it's like when someone tells you that bands u dig sucks (or makes a BAD comparison). That's what some of my buddies tell me about the Grateful Dead. They compare them to the counting crows and shit. Anyway, Vanilla Ice sucks ass. But I don't like The Doors either. Their songs all sound too similar, and Jim was a pompus asshole who thought that taking LSD would give anyone the freedom they need to do anything. i just take acid for FUN. But comparing The Doors and Vanilla Ice does suck. The Doors are better than Vanila Ice.

Sorry but I feel that The Doors are the seminal psychedelic-pop-outfit.No one can surpass their impact or lasting popularity & appeal. They still do it for me & many young people have the pleasure of discovering their music for the first time.

The Doors are easily in my top 10 of all time. I'd also have The Beatles, The Who, CCR, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones on the list. I read an interview where Bob Dylan said he wanted to be known as a poet and not just a talented artist. I can definately see where Jim is coming from because thats part of who he was personally. I agree that The Doors got screwed in that shitty magazine. But its reality and alot of great bands get screwed over by these writers!

LSD and other psychedelics sure have given me a huge amount of freedom that I would not have had if I was never turned on. So who are you, do you even know what was going on in the sixties? I don't even see what this has to do with the music, but I digress.

I am a casual doors fan, I throw on the best of every now and then, or soft parade maybe, but they're just not an amazing outfit or anything. I wouldn't put them in the top 50 worst bands, but maybe top 50 overrated bands.
