Do you have to have a ring closer to wear them? I always though the beads screwed on or something. Thanks for the feedback.

Nope.. You don't need a ring closer/opener to wear them unless they're VERY large gauge CBRs, then yes, for the sake of your thumbs have them. :)

It's always been a pain in the ass for me to get captive hoops to close.

I end up giving up and going for a circular barbell for smaller gauges (12, 14, 16) or pinchers for bigger gauges (0, 2, 4). Really thick captive hoops are sorta ugly, anyway.

CBR's are a pain in the ass. Basically, the bead has two holes which the ends of the ring fit into. Its really difficult to get the ring shut without pulling the piercing or bending the rings. They're just a pain in the ass.

Anyway, if its a piercing you'll leave in, you can go to a shop and they'll do it for like 5 bucks. If it something you want to change often, like toolmaggot said, circ barbells are more convenient.

In a pinch, you can take a pair of needle nose pliers, wrap the clamping ending in rubber bands to protect the jewelery, and use those.

    Hope that helps

A captive in a P.A. is a pain in the ass. I use a circ barbell with one large bead and one small bead (like off belly button bars), so they close the gap.

    pretty much..

for smaller gauges, you may be able to open/close them yourself.. if theyre closed very tightly though.. well goodluck.. i sure as hell couldnt get my 14ga lip one off without an opener..

if youve got a good relationship with a piercer you should be able to get them to do it for free.. or a small charge for a random i guess..

or be special, and buy a pair of ring openers and closers from somewhere like bmezines shop. hehe
