Prior to the maunder minimum and the "little ice age" temperatures were globally warmer than they are now. Vinyards and dates survived and thrived in England and southern Gemany. The black death, and constant repeat famines etc, came AFTER the cool down and the beginning of the Little Ice Age. Between each galciation there has been a warm period that lasted approximately 30,000 years (latest estimates) these were warmer than now. 50 million years ago and again 65 million years ago was on average 6C to 10C than now. The world was a tropical paradise with reptiles living near the poles and some of the largest land animals ever. BTW, all of the carbon that is now sequestered in the ground as coal, oil and gas was original IN THE ATMOSPHERE and was worked into the earth as the living things slowly lived and died over countless eons of time. I am not arguing for or against global warming and I do believe that we need to be cautious in all that we do, however, NONE and I mean ABSOLUTELY NONE of the dire predictions by doom sayers of the past from overpopulation to new ice ages to the end of the world...NONE of these have happened yet. In fact ALL of them have been an absolute bust. People need to be concerned but not paralyzed with fear and worry. This grand planet is far more robust than the doom sayers give her credit for. I am Green by the way. I practice what I believe. I conserve what I can, reuse what I can, garden, compost, recycle etc. I think these are healthy things to do. But if it still warms up (and it will) I will cope.

To answer your question..."what should I do?"...be happy and at peace with yourself and the world around you. Actually DO the things that you believe in strongly and don't burden those around you by forcing your views on them especially if they do not desire to hear it. It is enough to make yourself happy with your opinions and views. Let others be themselves. Don't worry too much about anything, especially those things that you cannot change. But have the strength and the resolve to change the things in yourself and your behaviour that you desire to change. You cannot not change the entire world but you can change your incredibly small piece of it. the universe asks for nothing more.

The earth abides. Nothing that man will do in the foreseeable future is going to harm mother earth. The earth will go through changes as it always has. It will respond and readapt to the activities of the life forms that make up part of it. Regardless if they are plankton or people. The question is - are we going to be able to live with the changes that are coming. A huge percent of international trade is carried on by ship. You look at the relatively mild damage to some of our gulf port facilities and the effect that it had. Then consider how many hurricanes we may have next season and the season after that. And we are talking about what - a less than 1 degree F change in the gulf water temperature. Life could become interesting

You made sense up until NONE and I mean ABSOLUTELY NONE of the dire predictions by doom sayers of the past from overpopulation to new ice ages to the end of the world...NONE of these have happened yet.
I knew a guy once who smoked 30-40 cigarettes a day, and he said to me that the lung cancer scare medical claim was all bullshit because he didn't have cancer yet!!!!! Same argument that you propose, bamboo.
Regarding the CO2 that was around in prehistory ~ there was amply sufficient vegetation and biodiversity to maintain equilibrium. Now we are releasing these same huge gas reserves via rampant industrial civilisation
without any mechanism by which to reclaim them back out of the atmosphere, vis-a-vis Amazon and other world rainforest destruction, and there weren't any factories spuming pollutants when dinosaurs were around [IMG]

You miss my point and that is probably my fault for not clearly setting out my thoughts. The only point I have is that the worst doom sayers and those that live completely off in the other direction and believe that nothing is going to happen are both wrong. Sure there is going to be change and to a degree it is too late to stop some of it so the question is how is the commom man going to cope for the present and for the future in a very real and positive way. I am a huge proponent of the school of thought that all change begins at home. We each have to personally take the little steps to get the big picture changed. The original "toxic to mammals' atmosphere was altered to it's present state by tiny one celled algea. Each tiny cell did its part and finally the change came about. We have to follow that practice each in his own way to first stop, and then correct the present situation. It is easy to complain and protest but the real change comes about by each of us doing their own little part.

Tend to agree with your statement. However, do you agree that a portion of doing our own little part comes in the education of others and ourselves?

Gerald (Jerry) Norman Springer (born February 8, 1944 in Hampstead, London) is a former Democratic mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, who now hosts a television program bearing his name, The Jerry Springer Show. He also hosts a talk radio program called Springer on the Radio on Air America Radio

[IMG] Talk show host Jerry Springer

His parents were Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany. In January 1949, he emigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom with his family on the RMS Queen Mary. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 1965, majoring in political science. He earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Northwestern University in 1968. He then became a campaign aide to Robert Kennedy; after Kennedy's assassination, he joined a Cincinnati law firm.

In 1970, Springer ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives, but failed to unseat incumbent Republican Donald D. Clancy. Springer was elected to the Cincinnati city council in 1971, at the age of 27. He resigned in 1974 after it was discovered that he had paid a prostitute with a personal check that had been found when police raided a massage parlor. A few days later he made a public apology for this affair; the next year he was reelected to the city council (though he had to run as an independent). A few years later, in 1977, he ran as a Democrat in a successful bid to be mayor of Cincinnati; he was 33.

In 1982, having stepped down as mayor, Springer failed in his bid to win the Democratic primary for governor of Ohio coming in third. (Dick Celeste won the primary and general elections). He was hired as a political reporter and commentator on Cincinnati's NBC affiliate, WLWT-TV, which had, at the time, the lowest-rated news program. As commentator, he ended each segment with what became his catch phrase: Take care of yourself, and each other. Within two years he was their number one news anchor, and for five years, the most popular one in the city, garnering seven local Emmy Awards in the process. It was a position he held until January 1993.

The Jerry Springer Show debuted in September 1991. It started as a politically-oriented talk show, a longer version of the commentary Springer had gained local fame for giving as reporter and anchor. Guests back then included Oliver North and Jesse Jackson, and the topics included homelessness and gun control. Low ratings led to the show being picked up by a new producer. The search for higher ratings led Springer towards tawdry and provocative topics, becoming more and more successful as the show turned more and more lowbrow. It became a freak show, where guests seek their fifteen minutes of fame through discussion and demonstrations of the worst in human behavior, while the audience reacts to the spectacle according to the rules of behavior usually associated with wrestling matches. Its extraordinary success has led it to be broadcast in dozens of countries.

Outside of his show, Springer remains politically active, particularly in Ohio. He has contributed large sums to the Ohio Democratic Party and he was a member of the Ohio delegation to the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Many Ohio Democrats hoped that he would challenge George Voinovich, who ran for re-election to the United States Senate in 2004. However, Springer decided early on that his contractual obligation to his television program would prevent him from running for elective office in 2004.

Springer had expressed interest in running for office in 2006, but he has stated that should he decide to do so, he would resign from the television show at least 18 months prior to the election date, which would have been in May of 2005. It had been widely surmised that he is either considering a run for the United States Senate against incumbent Republican R. Michael DeWine, who is up for re-election in 2006 or a run for the Ohio governorship. The current governor, Robert A. Taft II, will be barred from running for a third consecutive term in 2006. U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland has announced their candidacies for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2006, and 1998 nominee Lee Fisher has expressed interest in running; Columbus mayor Michael B. Coleman initially decided to run, but withdrew in November 2005 citing family concerns.

In 2004, the Ohio Democratic Party named Springer Democrat of the Year for his fund-raising efforts on behalf of the party.

On January 17, 2005, Springer began hosting Springer on the Radio, a liberal talk show on Cincinnati's WCKY-AM. He does the show from the Clear Channel studios in Kenwood on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and in Chicago, Illinois (where his television show tapes) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The show is also broadcast in Cleveland, Detroit, Miami, and San Antonio. On March 24, 2005, it was announced that the show will also be carried on Air America Radio beginning April 1.

In June the same year Springer traveled to the UK where he hosted a British version of his show entitled Springer on ITV1. In an interview he claimed that he had expected British guests to be more sedate, but found them to be even noisier and more argumentative than Americans.

i think the question of world and ending is a matter of defining terms. i think the way we are living now in the 'northern' world is going to end. i don't think it's going to be replaced by the worst conditions that exist elsewhere, though of course one of the possibilities is that it could. the world since nixon and especialy raygun, has become increasingly orwellian. the world of dependence on oil to the degree we've become over the last century can only end as extraction costs approach profitability. as for things like the planet itself disintigrating, i don't see that as terribly likely. global warming is a reality and look for sea levels to rise. VEEEeeeery slowly. remember ice is six times the volume of the water it contains, so a rise of even one inch takes a big chunk of polar caps melting. but signifigantly severe and shifting weather patters are occuring. as for all the good guys flying up into the sky and all the bad guys being burried in molten lava, forget it. if you're into the biblical thing, remember jonah's life after he got home from his whale trip. he wanted god to scourge babilon or some such place and got circumstantialy told it don't work that way. the rocks and the planet itself are pretty likely to still be there, as are the trees and little furry creatures with big sharp teeth. as for the human species, that's pretty much up to us, and not up to what we believe but how we live and the natural resaults of our collectively doing so.

We will soon be entering into 2006, this is now the time for major end times events to begin occuring. Be on the look out and when they DO come to pass, know that it is not by chance or luck, but it is by the Lord. From what I have gathered from end times information a large (not Iraq like) war is going to break out in the Middle-East. Countries I suspect will be involved will be Eygpt, Turky, and later Syria, and Iran. Israel will become very paraniod over these events. This war will be the reason that the Entire World, every nation, will enter into the Thrid World War, which will be more terrible and horrifying than anyone can imagen.

Yes and Israel is the main reason for that.... in fact that is what God put them their to that the nations would rise against that and then He would protect Israel in the end and reveal his glory. We are living in the end times. The rebirth of the state of Israel is the greatest sign!

The Jews returned to Israel and the Bible predicted its sequence in great detail without an error. The authors of the Bible were able to do this because they had the inspiration or guidence from God. The Bible claims that it's words are a 100% accurate and when it's words predict the future in detail without any error this shows that the Bible's claim is true because mere men cannot predict the future in this kind of detail without error.

It is people, such as yourself, that will never look into these amazing prophecies but rather laugh, riducule, and tear apart the God's word any way they can.

It is similar to when Noah was building the ark no one believed that some great flood was about to come to the earth as Noah was preaching. The people ridiculed the "crazy" prophet for believing in such an idea. They made fun of him constantly over the years he and his family took the time to build the ark. No over ever saught God's truth or acknowledged the impending judgment God was going to bring on the whole earth. These people made fun of Noah until... well until it started to rain.

Biblical citation to such effect is found........ where?
The Bible claims that it's words are a 100% accurate and when it's words predict the future in detail without error
Provide relevant biblical citation to verify this claim.
It is people, such as yourself, that will never look into these amazing prophecies but rather laugh, riducule, and tear apart the God's word any way they can.
Only falsity can be debunked for what it is, so please explain how God's word can be "torn apart" if it is founded upon truth.
It is similar to when Noah was building the ark no one believed that some great flood was about to come to the earth as Noah was preaching.
How is the mythical story of Noah different from any other ancient myths such as Minotaurs, Mermaids, & Medusa's?

Jerry knows all. Bow to Jerry, you filthy cocksucking sinners. He is the highest prophet, designated by god to warn the good people that the end is coming. He who denies Lord Jerry's prophecy shall rot in radioactive waste.
