I believe this sentence is a bit misleading. You can go very far with 10-20 US dollars in Cuba. And dollar is not the only currency, yes? No mention of pesos?

When I visited Pakistan a few years ago, I could have easily survived on 10-20 dollars a month.


In Cuba, education, healthcare, acupuncture, mud baths, house to live in etc. etc. is free. A lot of things are covered by the state, and what is not covered by the state, is covered by the community.
