Does anyone else feel bad about neutering their animals? I'm taking my cat Chiggers to the vet tomorrow to get snipped finally. I've had him for a year and a half, he's an inside cat, and have just always felt wrong about fixing him. He's got huge balls. He likes them too, i can tell! I just feel like if he could talk to me he'd ask if he could please keep them. I feel bad because he has no choice, the poor little guy is just going to wake up a eunich. It's not fair. I don't even care if he sprays, i'd rather have him happy and intact. my friend had a cat with a big set, you could tell he was proud of them. he'd stalk around, swingin his ass like he was in charge. he was super playful, friendly, fun. after he was fixed he became mean and surly, i think he was resentful. sigh. i know it's the right thing to do, keep him from fathering more kittens, etc, etc. I just feel rotten about it. after i made the appointment i hung up the phone and cried for a few minutes. he came over right away and climbed on my lap, he always does when i'm upset. he's the sweetest cat in the world. i wonder if he'd have been so sweet if he knew what was in store for him tomorrow.
i know it's lame to be so upset over it, i just kinda needed to let it out. thanks for listening.:(

Sorry you feel bad:( Of course taking your sweet little guy to the vet to remove his....uh.....stuff, isnt fun. But you can rest easy in knowing it is the best thing to do....and you sound like you know that. And if he is indoors, it will be easier on him.....he wont have that urge to get out and mate and then be frustrated that he is stuck indoors. So that will be good for him. Well wishes to you and your kitty!

I think it's the best thing for him. I never liked spaying my cats, but I always felt I had to. It's not easy, especially for someone like me who feels that humans interrupt the ecosystem enough as it is, but it's really stressful for domestic cats, especially if they can't leave the house, because they have these needs to mate that they can't satisfy. Letting him feel that is crueler than neutering him.

You're both right, thanks for replying and reinforcing those points. I took him in this morning and he's back home now. He's keeping his tail real low when he walks, i can't imagine what he's feeling. Testicular ghost pains? Har har. Poor baby, but you're right, it is mean to keep him cooped up and needing to hump. I've given him extra tlc and i don't think he's holding it against me. He really is just the sweetest cat in the world.
