Exactly. I'm not saying that if you buy marijuana you're a terrorist, but as marijuana smokers its important for us to try to properly and fairly evaluate what we're doing. There is Bias everywhere; that terrorism thing is some propaganda - you don't have to subscribe to one or another kind of bias though, why not just try to find the truth? There is a lot going on underneath the scenes even domestically though, nothing untrue about that. Whether you perceive this as purely consensual activity or disgusting immoral malicious activity that takes advantage of innocent unfortunate people is up to you. Its probably somewhere in between, but there is even with many legal businesses, so its up to you where to place your own morality.
why not?! there are alternatives to buying clothing made in sweatshops, try www.nosweatapparel.com; thats where i get my clothes now. if there was only a way to purchase cannabis that did not support gangs and such... maybe it could be taxed and benefit some sort of... government perhaps? i dont think they're listening... =(
i agree with those first two paragraphs. where i live a lot of the nugget is smuggled in from canada, and that fits into what you're talking about; decent people around here know somewhat more shady people and supply the locals. but i'm not so sure (as great as we all think legalization could be) that legalizing it would reduce the crime and whatnot that much; i mean there are a lot of people that are used to making money off of weed and possibly with governmental (esp. united states gov.) legalization, taxes and maybe additives, illegally obtained marijuana may be just as sought after as the legal shit. and to answer your question about is it morally right? i guess i deal with that the same way as i deal with eating mass produced meat. i know it's wrong and all but it's already being done, me refraining doesn't take back what already happened so.....pretty pessimisstic i know...not a real answer either i suppose. i would suggest changing how things are done at the top. do things right up there. cut out the thugs assholes and grow it yourself, or only get it from a know legitimate source. as for the food, cut out the "capitalist thugs" and do things right again. make less profit but treat the animals like they have a soul or at least treat them better than dirt. the way things ARE done is not the only way, but i see it as being pretty hard to change completely.
Anytime you illegalize something that has a good amount of demand behind it you will create a black market. It's simple economics and applies to just about everything, from MJ to heroin to Tigers and exotic plants. So is it our fault that we support shady people with our misbegotten money? In a way, yes, but then again the arguement could be made that just about everything that is bought or manufactured supports some shady people.
I prefer my money going into a black market, rather than to the united states money, if you ask me our gov't is much more evil than ANY mafia group.(I wonder how many deaths bush is responsible for?) Marijuana legalization would upset me, decrimilization on the other hand... I would sooner donate money to the mafia then pay taxes on my weed to the government.
adoutsider every president has been responsible for countless deaths, the media is over exploting them as technology progresses
I am not unaware of that fact, but as they are no longer president, they are not worth mentioning. Only mentioned bush as 1 of endless examples for my point, that just because this market is illegal, does not make it worse/better than any other market us as consumers support.
