Threads for Heads- another copycat!! illegal

as usual, i came across another loser on ebay who's making copies of Lauren's Threads for Heads and selling them for profit. This one ebayer is especially bad, i sent an email to ebay but they didn't do anything yet. she's on her way to selling the 4th copy...thats $120!! this is what it says from Lauren's website:

I'm sorry, but this book is no longer being printed and is no longer for sale until further notice. At this time there are no plans to resume printing or selling the book. Any currently oustanding orders will be filled, but no other copies are available for sale.


Because this book has a copyright and an ISDN issued by the Library of Congress, any reproduction of this book, including the text or illustrations without permission from the author, Lauren Clay is a federal offense and is punishable by law.

so this is obviosuly a problem, and the seller is in for some bad Karma. a book is a book, its not a pamphlet for redistribution, it was written and legally secured by an author. it's like me making copies of some novel and selling rip off versions on ebay. and these sellers dont even know they are getting ripped off.

look at the message the seller includes in the auction, now that i emailed her...she's got it soo wrong!

i emailed ebay but they wont respond fast enough, especially before this seller makes a few hundred dollars.

I agree. Not only should you contact ebay and the seller, but let Lauren know.

 

its time for a boycott, thank you for giving us this information. iam sure if we all as a group, just dont buy from her or ebay for that matter. it should send a meassage

 

yea i told ebay, lauren, the buyers, and the sellers. i say everyone bombard the seller with emails, or report to ebay (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html)

i wonder why lauren isnt cashing in on her book

she used to post on the amity mama forums (maybe she still does?). you might want to give a heads up over there too...

 

I emailed the seller and she says that she is not copying this book and selling it, but she is selling just one copy of this book. She said she purchased it from someone else and is selling it.

 

LOL the seller is such a liar! she already sold about four and she just had another up for auction...but the auction ended early (hopefully ebay took it off, tey should have after all the emails i sent lol)

 

see thats not the case, this person is actually making copies. no resale. they aren't legit, check out the pics. the seller even admitted. these have dumb little slip on spines, Lauren would print them with blue or white hard covers and spiral bound

 

and Lauren doesn't sell them for resale, she;d sell them off her site and profited herself. this ebay seller is making a profit for herself, not lauren

 

I have a legit copy of Lauren Clays book and it looks nothing like the one the girl is selling. Lauren has been to many different kynd forums to let people know about this theft of her book. I'm sure she will take care of it and as many emails as EBAY is getting from people, I'm sure they will ban this seller.

This seller emailed me twice. Once saying she is selling a copy she bought from Lauren and another saying she bought it from someone on EBAY.

 

i hope so! and they should fine the seller too....i mean whats banning gonna do? they still have the money, ugh.

She changed her feedback to private. Interesting.

 

There was someone else selling this book on ebay. This person is no longer a registered user. Now this new person has cropped up selling copies of the same book. This has been discussed on the HippieSewing list a lot. Many people think it's the same person, just changed to a new account.

it may or may not be the same person. i've busted about 5 people before, and then they go change their feedback to private. dummies, they dont realize that you can search the "sold items" and it will show that they sold all of the copies.
