anythign that naturally has colour... broccoli, spinach, sweet peppers, oranges, etc. Make sure you're getting all your vitamins, I'd recommend taking a multivitamin every day. Avoid heavy foods, greasy foods, they'll just make you feel bloated and icky with yourself

Too bad you're veggie, i was going to say pump up your iron and b12, but the best way to do that is usually red meat and egg yolks... although if you're just meat-free you can get some good solid b12 from milk :) (I'm anemic AND b12 deficient, i live on red meat, egg yolks and milk products...)

just make sure you are getting enough vitamins and essential fatty acids (omega-3).
there's plenty of sites explaining EFAs if you google it. :)

Hoya Saluamui: please explain why you said "The women should drink milk everyday" I'm a woman and never ever drink milk, and have no health problems because of it.

so obviously that diet is oh so good for you if you continue to become anemic and b12 deficient.

A balanced diet, veg or omni and ACTIVITY will encourage endorphin release which also does well for seratonin receptors. Sugars tend to casue crashes, so handle with care.
Go for the most whole food you can get: fresh veggies and fruits (whatever is in season) sproouts if you need to do that, whole grains: rice, pasta etc
if you continue to eat flesh, only one meal a day and keep the serving small.

Brahmi ~ it's a herb that is often sold at very high prices when commercially produced, packaged and marketed. But I once scoured the web and found a herb nursery here in Oz that sent me some very cheaply and I grew it in my herb garden. Bummer I lost it when the lightning that struck my house last january zapped the Brahmi too. Check Brahmi herb out on the net ~ it's a must!

no, milk is not necessary for building strong bones. Calcium and Vitamin D are.
you stated it was necessary for mental health? I disagree with that as well, although i would like to read info if you have it.

I've felt much healthier since being a vegan... and for mental health, it helps to know that you didn't have to cause anything that you're eating any sort of suffering.

Not also would a balanced diet help but activity is necessary to good mental health. I'm talking about running, swimming, yoga, palaties, etc. Something that will make you "break a sweat" is very important. Good Luck....................

I haven't personally read the studies, but I have heard that turkey and salmon increase the serotonin levels in the brain.

That is cold. They're living beings with feelings and lives. Humans aren't above them. All living beings are equal. They are good for a lot more than some people too.
