    Captive hoops are a bitch.

A ring opener would help, if you can't get it off without one.

You dont' have to ruin the ring.

If its a fairly new piercing I'd reccomend going back to the piercer, just to be on the safe side. Is it a ball closure ring? If it is then just remove the ball, slide it out and change it. They're pretty simple to do and they won't be damaged. If you have trouble getting the ball out, try some ring openers, or I sometimes use a tiny pair pliers if I can't find my pair! But be *very* careful and just be sure to open the hoop a tiny bit, otherwise you could weaken the ring. If its not a BCR, then its usually just a case of finding out how it opens and closes, then popping it open, sliding it out the piercing and putting something new in.

As long as you're careful you'll be able to wear the ring again. They're pretty durable. Just be sure to clean it and keep everything clean!
