I tried this with my golden onion soup in september and my car still smells like onions! thankfully, i like onions, but it's getting old. shampoo #3 coming up during the next warm spell.
This is why my head is exploding! Every time I think of something on my own, Oops, there's egg in it or milk or butter (but, now I know I can get one of those substitutes for that) And now honey is suspect! See!, if I didn't ask for advice I could have made all kind of snafu's. Yikes.
nah... just have an ingredients list. if they are THAT picky, they'll get a diff dish.. at the risk of imploding your cranium, I met a pack who were vegan if they bought it, but ate and used anything they didn'y pay for: freegan. seems the best culture jam stance.
sorry please shoot me for not interpreting Japanese correctly...no sushi in Japanese does not mean anything at all vegetarian, in fact it translates as something like fish on rice or such and therefore I apologise for my muff up...however here where I live which is not Japan they have adopted the word sushi to mean any sort of nori-make...that is rolled up rice and stuff....so I was using the word in the context here, not the Japanse context....what I meant to suggest was such things as cucumber, carrot, avocado, mayonnaise and wasabi rolls or such variations therof!! *runs off to corner to gobble said rolls down* by the way tarabelle you are sounding like you are totally working so hard to get it right for people you don't know and I think you need a big round of applause!!
http://freegan.info/ gotta love google!!! I have met various people who either expoused or actually lived these principals...always interesting!
AHhahhahaha! And that's kind of a cool motto. I'll let yall know what I come up with, but right now, a big pot o' beans with some onion sounds sooooo easy and tempting, but I'm sure that is way overdone.
Do you make those yourself? If so, can you share your recipe? Those would be served cold, huh? I wouldn't have to worry about keeping them warm?
oh heck yeah maki (rolls) can be =made ahead and they are supposed to be cold. http://www.bento.com/trt-caliroll.html this is a Cali (fishy) roll, but the how to is the same. My maki is made with red pepper (roasted if I have time) asparagus, cukes, celery, scallions, carrots (I'm not a huge avacado fan, but it is usually used) simple cuke roll: http://japanesefood.about.com/od/sushiroll/r/cucumberroll.htm
My folks have been vegetarian for over 40 years. My Mom has tons of yummy vegetarian recipes. If ya'll are interested I'll start a regular thread with posts of her recipes as well as my own vegetarian dishes. Look for my thread to start in the next several days...
mmmm....YUM!!! kappamaki!!! these are so good you just have to get the rice done right and I have found the instructions for this on the packet of the seaweed...it is in their interest to promote their use after all!! I just followed thier instructions for sugaring and vinagering the rice and then put whatever I felt like in the middle though I do like the simpler ones myself...you stuff a few up when rolling them at first but like anything the more you do the better you become!
How about potato pancakes and applesauce. Or buy veggue ground round and make spaghetti and "meat"sauce. That always turns out well. A big veggie pizza with no cheese (or with soy cheese). spicy peanut thai sauce on noodles
I took potato soup and they must have liked it. They ate it all! There were no vegans there so I didn't offend anyone. It was a blast, BTW. A very nice small introduction to Rainbow. Thanks, guys, for all the tips. I'm going to try some of those for myself!
oh ok sorry bout that steph...i have never heard of that before, i thought that maybe you were thinking vegetarians eat fish, cause a lot of people who know i am a veg* try to get me to eat fish.....
Drumminmama.... I tried that mousse recipie and it was yummy! Im taking one to each of my parents for christmas. Im not planning on telling them its tofu till theyre done. Im sure theyll love it. I do
