    2005! Wow! What a year. Just flew by like an Iraqi RPG, didn't it?

    So as the year draws to a close, its time to look back and reflect. Gather round, pull up a chair, pour yourself an eggnog and join me in nominating HipForums participants for their best, their worst, and their most bizarre. Now I don't venture much beyond the politics/america attacks forums, so I'll have to concentrate on that, but those of you who explore the vast outer regions of HipForums, give us your two bits.

    Of course as MC/host, producer, director and chairman, I decide everything except the voting which will be handled independently by Deloitte & Touche via voting boxes sealed with depleted uranium.

    AWARD FOR MOST POPULAR THREAD: Juggalo4ever, KingoftheChubbyGirls, for creating The Official Boobie Club Thread, which received 2,835 replies. The people have spoken.

    AWARD FOR MOST ACUTE CASE OF ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER: Slutter McGee, who really couldn't resist responding to everything. We hardly knew ye.

    THE GOOD RIDDANCE AWARD: CyberFly. What the hell took you so long to get banned you insufferable git. Democrats never had a worse supporter.

    THE WHERE ARE THEY NOW AWARD: Have the Illuminati conspiracy theorists all been kidnapped by the Illuminati, or was that just a flavor of the month? We're so worried, you almost had us convinced the New World Order was being run from underneath the Denver Airport.

    THE NOSTRADAMUS AWARD FOR BAD PREDICTIONS: Pressed Rat, who said that we would invade Syria and Iran this year, that the draft was coming, and that if social security wasn't privatised the stock market would fall 50%. Please let us know your stock market prediction for next year so we can do the opposite. Runner up: Skip. Try changing your sig over the holidays when nobody will notice. Cuz there ain't no draft.

    THE BANDWIDTH CRIME AWARD: To every dumbass that insists on having a huge pic as their sig, especially if they are in the pic, and especially if they are showing off their guitar/sword/mini-pecs/cat. You are not nearly as cool as you think you are.

    THE ANGRY SPAMBOT AWARD: Best you not nominate you-know-who for this award, boy, lest you want to be buried under heaps of pompous abuse. (We know you're not real, nobody could be that lame)

    THE FIDEL CASTRO AWARD FOR LONG POSTS: Balbus. Can you make a point in less than 5000 words? The rest of us can.

    THE POLITBURO AWARD FOR CRASS PROPAGANDA: Communism. It has a certain retro appeal, but ultimately it is still an apology for totalitarianism. Also, its just kinda weird. Why would anybody do it?

    THE TRUE HIPPIE AWARD: flmkpr. The dude is right on.

    THE TRUE HIPPIE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Come on. Its Skip. Call me an arselicker, he still gets my vote. Hell, he's in wikipedia.

    THE DEAD HORSE THREAD AWARD: Look, if someone shows you a photo of a deformed baby and says "DU did this", that doesn't prove that DU causes deformities in babies. Japanese data going back to 1945 shows it takes an average of 15 years for even massive radiation exposure to cause leukemia and 40 years to cause solid tumors, with "massive" meaning an A-bomb exploding over your head. Yet in Iraq apparently massive health problems appeared instantly.

    THE YES ITS OLD BUT ITS STILL FUNNY AWARD: Whoever came up with "!!!!1!!!1!!one!!!11!eleventyone!!1!!"

    THE TEEN REBEL DISCOVERS THE INTERNET AWARD: Any thread promoting anarchy. No you are not the first person to tell us. No, we aren't conditioned by the media. Its a hypothetical utopia, who cares? Most of its fans live at home and don't have jobs or responsibilities. Coincidence?

    THE PLEASE COME UP WITH SOMETHING NEW FOR 2006 AWARD: m6m. Your universal theory of anal whatever is way, way, way past its sell by date.

    THE SAINTLY PRO IRAQ AWARD: Matthew. No matter how much abuse he gets, he doesn't return it. Ever. Peace be upon you brother, we could all learn from you. Runner up: Not me.

    Ha ha OK also the GOOD SPORT AWARD and the award for the only person who criticises US policy but not at the expense of standing up for democracy in Iraq.

    Pointbreak deserves an award himself! For living up to his name more than anyone else on these here forums. He's a master at derailing threads by "breaking" the "point" of other posters. Too bad his name has nothing to do with surfing other than the web kind.

    You win the Thread Derailment award!

    I tip my hat to you! You are damn good at it.

    If you're not being paid by some agency for what you do here on this site, you should! If you are being paid, you're welcome to use this award to persuade your superiors to give you a raise! Which you can then kick back to the site like a good corrupt Repugnantcan. ;)

    BTW, I just saw on a conservative site, where a conservative refers to this tactic as "blur and distract". Is that what you call it?

    Pointbreak also wins the "unable to tell the difference between the message and the messenger.

    When at a loss for anything meaningful to say, he reverts to childish insults, and ramblings about what kind of furnature someone has, or what kind of clothes they wear.
    He feels he's won a debate if the person he's debating doesn't want to get into a shit slinging contest.

    Haha that '!!!11!!1!!!1one!!' shit still makes me laugh. :D And to be fair I believe it was EarthyMama who started the boobie thread, Juggs took it over. :rolleyes: So umm anyway, I'd like to award pointbreak and matthew both the 'desperately needed alternate viewpoint without which there could be no conversation/debate/whathaveyou' award. :D

    Yes, it is a tribute to both Matthew & Pointbreak that their relatively non-aggressive behavior and well written posts have made them welcome in AA, despite their opposing views. Proving that I do allow those who disagree with me to express themselves, they just have to be civil about it. It also helps to actually construct your own sentences and not cut and paste every talking point from conservative sites.

    I still have a problem with their very well coordinated rebuttals, and exact same opinions on just about everything. They might as well be clones.

    And that's why when the AA forum fills up with these types, many other people from this site who might like to participate in the forum feel intimidated by numerous, often hostile responses from the 'right' (the usual love it or leave it shit). So I must counterbalance the intimidation by strictly enforcing the guidelines in that forum. Those who can only spout the company line over and over are extremely boring and tedious.

    Thank God, the majority of this website's members have alternative viewpoints to the media saturated masses, and for their views to be clearly heard, we cannot allow 'Deny, Blur and Distract' tactics to prevail in this forum.

    So you guys are welcome to provide YOUR OWN UNIQUE opinions, just as everyone else does, but when they can be found, often word for word on conservative websites, without caveats or even attribution to the original source, then it's just spam and trolling.

    And it all sounds like:
    baaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    Be original (if that's possible for you). You guys still have a long way to go before your opinions and point of view actually influence anyone. I really hate to think you guys make all those posts, never changing anyone's opinion.

    In fact your real goal (and that of others) is to prevent those with opinions similar to yours from changing their opinions based upon what gets posted on this site. That is the "conservative" prerogative. And that is only plausible explanation for why you guys are here.

    By distracting us and challenging every single point we make (often futile), you prevent the discussions from going further. I would love to see threads progress to the point where people debate WHAT TO DO about the issues in the thread, rather than always being forced to validate the issue's fine points. But see if every point gets challenged endlessly, then you can never discuss, organize and generate a response to issues. But that is your other raison d'etre ici, no?

    Your tactics mirror those of Fox News and other conservative media outlets. Deny, Blur and Distract. It works really well when it's happening all around you. To run a successful fascist state, you have to be good at keeping the masses distracted from what your leaders are doing.

    Thank God, that time of ignorance seems passed...

    Skip, do you ever get tired of having to write long long posts that are almost exactly the same as each other?

    cos i dont think ive ever seen you say "I hate writing this stuff but here I go again..."

    i'm glad i'm not the administrator, i'd get bored of that shit quickly and ban anyone and everyone. :D.

    Actually I don't really measure the size of my post ;) !

    As far as them being exactly the same, I try to avoid that as well, but like my sig pic, as long as the same situation prevails in America, the same attitude exists on my part. Let's see some CHANGE in America, like say, a few NEW political parties rise up out of the scum of American politics and provide alternatives for people like us.

    They don't necessarily need to challenge the two major parties outright. They just need to steal enough votes so that neither major party has a majority and they must compromise to pass laws.

    This way the smaller parties, even if less than 5% of the vote, can get SOMETHING they want, rather than the big ZERO we get now.

    Anyway my point is as long as we are confronted with the same problems (Bush, Iraq, Torture, Imperialism etc.) we will continue to experience the same responses from the rest of the world (terrorism, hostility, credibility gap, nuclear arms races, etc.)

    Because most of these problems have the same root causes (capitalisic greed, political cronism, the religious right, militarism, disrespect for human rights, etc.), a lot of my posts are going to point out these same causes. This may seem repetitious, but at least I'm not cutting and pasting my opinions.

    I suppose it indicates a steady belief in core values, rather than: I supported Bush and the war, but now that the war and Bush are unpopular, I don't.

    The trick Bush & Rove were able to play on the American public was making them think that American's core belief (Christianity) was identical to that of Bush. And since you can't shake those people's core belief, you have that same christians still supporting Bush because they can't separate their politics from their religion. The republicans have merged the two so successfully, that it creates an insurmountable wall of cognitive dissonance for people turn against Bush, cause it's like turning against their core Christian values.

    And with all the fear Bush has managed to generate among Christians, they have a circle the wagons mentality against everyone else who pretty much gets viewed as the enemy, especially "liberals", and those with non-christian values.

    Gee and here I've gone and wrote another long, long post on the same subject again... Will they ever learn?

    I’m surprised more people aren’t disturbed by my outbursts.

    After-all, civilized anal-retentiveness is a latent homosexual impulse.

    So bringing up that subject does hit below the belt.

    But maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised, this is after-all a sophisticated group who may already know the naked facts of life.

    And I suppose many of us have suspected for a long time already that all the usual political, economic, or religious answers are not solutions, but rather, symptoms.

    Yet for those who haven’t considered the repressive effect on our sexual development that occurs within the hierarchical environment of our civilization, I’ll continue the occational suggestive outbursts.

    Well I for one LOVE your freudian/sexual/political insights. They are always so right on, cutting thru all the moralistic crap that passes for "values" these days, aiming right at the core of our uptight judeo-christian hangups that lead to war, intolerance, racism, etc.

    I suppose if we had an award for Psychological Analysis of Conservative Political Programming, M6M wins it! :)

    Our collective mass psychosis is rapidly excelerating all of us towards a de-facto mass suicide.

    We don't really want death, but male ego deals with death-fear by a deceptive denial, that we desparately prove with an exaggerated death-drive.

    And we will prove our denial even if we have to kill ourselves to do it.

    The death-drive funeral-march of civilization.

    We stand at the brink, and any generation could be the last.

    No matter how redundant I am, only a critical mass of collective awareness can render the power of our deceptions ineffective.

    And that's just not happening.
