This is kind of a dumb question...but my winamp won't play any .avi files...and all my movies on here are in that format. I tried to use windows media player after winamp didn't work, and it didn't work either. I can hear the movie, I just can't see it. So, how do I get it to play 'em?
It sounds like you are missing the proper video codecs to play the movies. Some movie files require certain video codecs in order to view them properly. Check out VideoLAN aka VLC Media PLayer. http://videolan.org It will play almost any type of movie you run into without the need for codecs. I rarely run into a file that VLC won't play. It's also one of the only media players that will play a file while you are in the process of downloading it. Oh yeah, it's free too.
Best free player for avi's is BS Player, not VLC. BS Player is also free. I als suggest you download the FFDSHOW codec.
I usually just download the K-Lite Codec Pack. I've never found a single codec I've needed that wasn't in that. There are like ... something crazy like over 100 audio and video codecs in it.
