My mom has some kind of athsma and just recently either pulled something or hurt a disk in her back, causing her ass cheek to hurt really bad.

She says she can't smoke because she has asthma. She also believes that marijuana won't help the pain in her ass, which, even after taking tons of pharmecuticals such as vicodin, doesn't go away.

I believe weed could help both problems, depending on what type of asthma she has.

What do you guys think? Should I bring up the subject again?

Well, you've got the treatment, sure.. but she had a test and results don't get back until monday or tuesday so she's in horrible pain right now. This is primarily for pain.

And all these pharms that don't work..

Oh, I forgot: she also has glaucoma. Uses eye drops for that and pills for the asthma.. I just figure she could smoke and alleviate most of the problems and pain.

I dont know man, if she didn't have athsma i'd say sure, but it would prolly just irritate her lungs...maybe she could take some orally? or get a perscription for Marinol or Sativex...

My eye dr said that once you're on the drops for glacoma you're on them for life....probably why she's pushing me to try "alternatives" first :)

Asthma and smoke dont go horribly well together most of the time.

Maybe she should get drunk? Alchohol is a heck of a numbing pain killer....until the nexy morning anyway

Your mom can use a vaporizer or eat the weed that way her lungs wont be bothered.

Weed is a treatment for asthma, its a bronchial dilator. It can certainly stop attacks. She might have problems with chronic smoking but there are always vaporizers. Don't a few cities in michigan have medical mj laws?

smoking a joint could really hurt her lungs.. i have excercise induced asthma that i just regulate with albuterol. smoking anything can really hurt my lungs, it just depends on how i'm doing healthwise (if i have bronchitis, which i get a lot, it's realllly bad) my bf had me smoke crystal because you need less than a joint but my lungs still freaked out and totally rejected it and i coughed up a storm... not fun. having an asthma attack is scary as is, so i wouldn't want to risk inducing one.

if it wasn't for her having asthma, i'd say give it a try, but the asthma makes me say probably not. i talked to my doctor about bronchitis and smoking and she was pretty adamant about how not smoking helps a LOT. she was referring more to cigarettes, but marijuana still produces smoke that fills your lungs. of course this is talking about smoking, and not eating and all that... maybe you could give her a brownie?

of course, you can always talk to her doctor about it...

if my throat hurts toking is no good fo me, but if im coughing from phlem in the lungs or somehting of the like than i find pot really does make me a lot less likely to cough (after the fact, not while smoking)...it certianly didnt help tigerlily when she was here thoygh, so i guess it depends on the kind of athsma or lung problems she's having

Okay I found out she has allergic asthma, so unless shes allergic to pot smoke, it shouldn't bother her any more than some other person.

meh..I don't think it's worth the trouble anymore, arguing whether or not she should toke up. Oh well. Thanks, everyone.

Well I've been jokingly referring to MJ whenever she mentions pain and it seems like shes starting to warm up to the idea. She might need surgery to remove a small bone spur in her back and i'm suggesting mj as an anti inflamatory as well as for pain. So we'll see. This is a case of medical use and liberation in the household as well.

Medicaly speakin she autta squeeze an oz of good bud into a fifth of the best vodka she can find and shake it up everyday for a month or so. Then when her asma acts up she could take a teaspoon and it should end her symptoms fairly immediatly. and If her ass still hurts I could rub it for her :) .

When I have a chest cold, I find smoking kinda dries thing up, in a good way. Helps you get the phlegm out.

I usta smoke 2 packs of marlboro everyday 4 years ago. I would coughf my lungs into the sink every mornin when I lit up the Herbs. My wife too. Now that I havnt smoked cigarretts in a fyew years I dont coughf at all. Everyone that I know that smokes cigarrettes has the same problem as far as I can see, herb makesem gag. My kids who still smoke cigarrettes remarked about how I dont coughf anymore. I kinda see it as evidence that Herb is way safe for ya, by itself I dont coughf but when I was a habitual cig smoker I did. I think that when a cig smoker coughfs while smokin Herb its not the Herb that maksem coughf, its the Herb makin the tobaco poison come up, otherwise I'd still be coughfin. Cannabis is a broncodialator. Sometimes when I do a nice hit of hash I can feel my bronkos open wide up!
