I'm not sure how the study was conducted but someone must have been lurking in one of the stalls with a notepad while listening for the sound of running water when each of the occupants left the "throne."

I also read someone's comment on another discussion board (yes, I'm one of those copy and paste people--copying some of my own threads to other forums, that is) that conscience plays a part in the hand washing routine. If someone else is present in the restroom, you might be more likely to wash your hands when you're being observed.

Is that you and your dog in the photo? I love it.

I think in private men are WAY cleaner than women but in public they're messier-ie-women rarely litter or throw their cigarette out the window, we leave hotel rooms cleaner. women are more image concious I thinkt hat's why.

Washing your hands is the single best way to prevent the spread of disease. A recent study showed that the huge rise in hospital infections was linked to the increased use of computers. There is no way to clean a keyboard. Therefore, the staff was spreading infectious material to each other. You should wash you hands after you touch another person that you do not live with (if you live with them you have the same bacterial colonies anyway) and after any exposure to other peoples waste. I would rather touch someone's feces however than their spit. With spit you get airborne and body born pathogens both. By the way urine is a sterile fluid (unless you have an infection) and is often used by the military in extreme situations (lack of water) to wash wounds.
