All right...I have been having problems with my hair lately. Maybe I'm washing it too much, but lately it has been feeling really dry and...crunchy. Maybe that's an overly peculiar way of describing it, but that's how it feels. It feels rather like straw, sometimes.
It's also got split ends, maybe this is the cause of my problem...
    And it is very thick.
However, despite everything, I am trying to grow it out from a shorter haircut, but I don't really want to get it cut again because it takes FOREVER to grow..is there any way for me to cure my hair woes without cutting it?

Does anyone know? Sorry for being so longwinded and boring.

I dunno. I say shave it. Or dreads. Haha, I'll bet your parents would love that!

    Use lots of moisturiser/conditioner.

Its because of the split ends. You need to get them all cut off and your hair will come back to life! Also use a really good hydrating conditioner and dry your hair natraully as often as you can.

Oooooh noooo Don't shave it!!! I shaved my head. The growing out period=no fun. ahhaha.

I got frustrated and shaved it again. Ahaha. I'm dealing with that now.

Then again, it might be your thing... I dunno. haha.

Wiccan Witch is totally right. I went through the same thing about a year ago when I had short hair and grew it out long again. Just trim the split ends. The conditioner will def help too.

    trim split ends
get a really good conditioner for regular use
use a hot oil treatment as often as is recommended
consider finding a leavin conditioner (ie infusium's) to use on days where your hair is exposed to harsh weather or you can't condition your hair regularly that day

make sure you're getting all the vitamins you need (particularly A,E and protein)
and stopping smoking, if you do, can help a lot
Using a wide tooth comb instead of a brush can prevent hair breakage
    :)

How's your dietary intake of vitamin A & Protein? That's what builds and maintains hair. It's best to take the oil-based vitamins together (A, D, E). PABA (paraminobenzoic acid) is a hair-specific protein you could also supplement. Also up B complex vitamins and vitamin C. Trace copper is also beneficial.
