A bill on Gov. Bob Taft's desk right now is drawing a lot of criticism, NewsChannel5 reported.

One state representative said it resembles Gestapo-style tactics of government, and there could be changes coming on the streets of Ohio's small towns and big cities.

The Ohio Patriot Act has made it to the Taft's desk, and with the stroke of a pen, it would most likely become the toughest terrorism bill in the country. The lengthy piece of legislation would let police arrest people in public places who will not give their names, address and birth dates, even if they are not doing anything wrong.

WEWS reported it would also pave the way for everyone entering critical transportation sites such as, train stations, airports and bus stations to show ID.

"It brings us frighteningly close to a show me your papers society," said Carrie Davis of the ACLU, which opposes the Ohio Patriot Act.

There are many others who oppose the bill as well.

"The variety of people who opposed to this is not just a group of the usual suspects. We have people far right to the left opposing the bill who think it is a bad idea," said Al McGinty, NewsChannel5?s terrorism expert.

McGinty said he isn't sure the law would do what it's intended to do.

"I think anything we do to enhance security and give power to protect the public to police officers is a good idea," he said. "It is a good law in the wrong direction."

Gov. Bob Taft will make the ultimate decision on whether to sign the bill.

WEWS was told that Taft is expected to sign the bill into law, but legal experts expect that it will be challenged in courts.

Taft is dumb enough to sign it. As someone else here said, Taft is sinking Ohio faster than the Titanic.

I find it hillarious that our country is degenerating. Actually thats bs, it pisses me off soooo much, but the people get what they want, and I'm stupid. The only sad part is that I'm in it.

Have you ever been to Ohio?
There is nothing there to blow-up. All the rural areas are flat and boring, and all the cities are crumbling from neglect and poverty.
I seriously doubt that there is Al-Qadea in Ohio.

Now more than ever I see people on the move to live in more relaxed parts of the usa where in some places you have alot more freedom than in others.

Thats my big beef with cali, its a police state.

Even the small town I live in here in the south, has a old van that says 911 services on the side, they come on your property and map it out and say its for the good of the public as well as the land owner.

    I say we police ourselves.

But in reality its so the law and gov has a layout of YOUR pad property, they where sherriff uniforms and are so you cant argue with them too much or they say your interfering with a ploice matter when they are YOUR fuckng property.

Just another way to watch and control.

i couldnt have said it better myself.

my town is beginning to ripen for revolt. thousands of lower-middle class people trying to live in this little rust-belt, backwater, hellhole while an increasingly aggressive and corrupt police force who go around busting every pothead and j-walker because theyre too incompetent to stop serious criminals and/or theyre being payed off. i could go on for days about the bullshit of this asshole of atown, and troy is one of the better off communities in the area!
