Has anyone noticed the change in American news lately? Since the Bush administration annouced a multimillione dollar campaign to surpress the "bad news" or the truth about Iraq, there has been very little coverage on the daily carnage lately. Looks like we're losing our basic freedoms one at a time.
Soon the takeover will be complete and we'll all be servants of king Bush.
While we're on the subject of freedom, we're not even allowed to post our opinions on the net or have private conversations without king George illegally wiretapping and spying on us. He had to control the population somehow to remain in power, so he came right out in the face of the world and turned America into a dictatorship and if anybody don't like it, we'll just call ya a terrorist and lock you up for the rest of your life without a centillia's worth of evidence. Soon these forums will be quiet and we'll read all the good news about Irag daily and life will be super. Yep thing are going to get better whether the facts show otherwise and we'' all be happy little servents in our so called democracy.
    WELCOME TO THE FREE WORLD

bush is kinda aiding the terrorist by making it seem like there are terrorist under every rock, behind every tree and around every corner just waiting to attack and ONLY he can save us from these terrorist. That's why he needs the illegal wire taps, to keep us safe. YEAH RIGHT. suck it georgie boy.

anyhoo, yeah there does seem to be a lack of news of whats happening in Iraq other than the typical "there was another bomb blast today"

lol. wiretapping and spying have been going on alot longer than king george. It's just been brought to the public, whatever that really means in todays means of 'bringing to the public'. but, yeah, even less coverage than before... not really surprising though.

We got news that the USA was going to spend around $4 billion on a world-wide "advertising" campaign to sell it's (the govt's) viewpoint overseas, too.

You know, in 1979, a guy called R. Buckminster Fuller said that the USA was a socialist country (ie ~ US govt. subsidises & supports US industry via US contracts awarded in US warzones = socialism), that the government was controlled by the big money, the big money came from arms and warfare, and the Prez was the servant of said war industry. e.g ~
JFK wanted out of Vietnam ~ JFK shot ~ Johnson Prez ~ Vietnam War escalated next day.
Funny that the truth always seems to go quiet, don't it?

Yup, in order to raise Bush's poll standings, which his whole administration requires to be acceptable, they had to start a huge media campaign. I noticed it start at Fox News one day, (where all the Bush media strategies get their start). They started questioning "where is the GOOD NEWS on Iraq?". Starting that day, that is pretty much all the news they deliver anymore. The fact that there's NOT MUCH good news means that you're not hearing hardly anything happening in Iraq, much less the real story anymore...

But it's all gonna blow WIDE OPEN very soon, and they won't be able to supress the TONS of bad news cause the SHIT IS ABOUT TO HIT THE FAN.

    Oh, yeah baby!

To start, it looks like the whole Iraqi election is about to be tossed out! That is the ONE big achievement (besides catching some guy in a hole) that the US can point to in Iraq. And it's all gonna be for NOTHING.

You bet your ass the Bushites are gonna cover their asses on this one, it's already begun. Rummy had to run back to Baghdad when he got whiff of this one. And that's only the beginning...

The scandals abroad are going to be competing with the domestic scandals for press attention.

Try wholesale domestic spying on Americans by the NSA, against the constitution. And they're even starting to dredge up the long standing Eschelon and secret spy bases in the UK & Australia thingy, like they just discovered all this spying on Americans... More icing on the cake!

Then there's that whole list I posted in another thread about Bush's failures. They haven't disappeared and have only started to haunt him.

Oh, and then there's articles like this one...
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1673958,00.html

Of course notice it's a BRITISH paper carrying the story...

Also realize that this is a US HOLIDAY, when the US censors take time off to be with their families. Meaning NO REAL NEWS will be processed until everyone is back to work censoring the news.

Haven't any of you noticed the LACK of conservative views on this forum for the past few days? Yes, they have families too, so let's honor their time off by not criticising Bush until they can get back to work criticising us! (yeah, right!). Pretty much proves their mission, no?

Good point andcrs2! That's why I can't let this site degenerate into Faux News II. In order for our counterpoint to be heard, we need equal time to get our message across clearly.

If conservatives come here and dominate the discussion with their DENY, BLUR and DISTRACT techniques, our message does not get across effectively, and then there IS NO COUNTERPOINT, which is the goal of the neocons and their control over the media.

I noticed that suddenly newspapers here in the Former American Republic are no longer carrying ANY bad news from Iraq. On the same day, I saw this in the Washington Post:

"President Bush has been summoning newspaper editors lately in an effort to prevent publication of stories he considers damaging to national security... the meetings were confirmed by sources who have been briefed on them but are not authorized to comment because both sides had agreed to keep the sessions off the record."

Ahh, the sweet, sweet taste of freedom...

(Actually this was supposedly specific "only" to the admin's avoidance of FISA safeguards)

I've got this shit all figured out now.

What's going on, is the NSA leak has the white house pissed off big time. They've been keeping it under wraps claiming National Security was at stake.

They even kept the Times from publishing the story for a year.

But then their reporter was getting ready to go straight to the public with his book. It would make them look real bad, and they would be scooped by their own reporter!

Obviously the White House has pressured (threatened really) all the media not to carry this story. But they can't stop an INDIVIDUAL from doing it, if he's willing to take the risk of violating national security.

In fact the NY Times publisher & manager can't even discuss this because they are under presidential orders not to.

This is a disgrace, and the END OF A FREE PRESS IN AMERICA.

PEOPLE SHOULD BE APPALLED AND PICKETING THE WHITE HOUSE RIGHT NOW!

    But no, AMERICANS ARE SO....

    baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

This country has gone to hell. Now that we've lost our rights to free speech and illegal search and seizures, Bush is selling the idea that the free press is a national security threat. The madman has lost his mind completely, he need to be in a nuthouse, along with that silverspoon punk Goblindemoteam that keeps sending me those stupid e-mails

Skip, do you really think the Al Qaida website is going to be unbiased? I mean, I agree with your points and all, but I'm really not with you on this one.

I never said they'd be unbaised. EveryBODY is biased. Every news organization is biased. That's why you MUST listen to all sides, and form your own opinions, especially when so much is at stake.

But if people are too lazy to really listen to what their enemies are saying, there will NEVER BE PEACE!

There as so many flaws in Bush's logic and foreign policy. Ego and self-righteousness rule the day in America as Imperialism has raised it's ugly head and already aliented the world from America.

It truly is "US" and "THEM" now and "THEM" is just about everyone who can't cram their heads far enough up Bush's ASS.

Bush has created far more enemies and lost so many friends for the US. He is so incompetent in foreign policy. His advisors only know war, not diplomacy.

The world now teeters on the brink of apocalypse, and ironically Bush and his cronies WELCOME IT. NOW!

It could be starting any day.

Don't you feel safer now that Bush is in charge?

A media refusing to publish terrorism is one of the best methods of stopping terrorism.

The media got quiet about the Katrina thing too. That's a mess no one wants to talk about. It's a lot easier doing the military base talk circuit where everyone is waving little flags every time the prez stumbles through another shallow incoherent speech.

It's quite a coincidence how all the terror scare tactics ended right after the 2004 presidential election. And the only major scare since was the bottle of draino in the NY subway that the media went crazy about the week that Tom DeLay was being indicted.

If anyone can say with a straight face they can't see the manipulation of the press and the terror alerts, they are either delusional, in denial or are proffiting from the spoils of war. This administration is an embarrassment
and a disgrace to America and the principles this country once stood for. What gets me is why isn't this thug impeached yet?
