I still have the same cat that I've had since I was six years old....she is getting pretty old and it's been starting to show the past few years. Gray hairs on her tail, sleeps more, gets fat easier....I still love her though. Don't let anyone tell you they're only cute when they're kittens. Anyway. This is what worries me. A few years ago I noticed one of her eyes was a little funny, enlarged pupil and such, but it went away in a few days. But over the past year, her eye has been looking slightly abnormal again, and has been clouding over. In recent weeks, it's been clouidng more rapidly than ever before, and is now nearly completely clouded, her eye looks swollen, pupil weird, and occasionally tearing up. Is this what feline cataracts do? Has anyone else ever had an elderly cat with an eye problem? What, if anything, can I or a vet do for this?
as dogs and cats become seniors its normal for there to be slight clouding in the eyes, but if her eye looks as you say it does then i would rush her to a vet ASAP. i dont know what they can do for cataracts (if that is what it is) but you want to make sure theres no infection going on....if her eye is swollen and tearing up then it may be something else. i dont know, im not familiar with cataracts (my cat is still only 3yrs old and my oldest dog is just 9). best wishes to her and let us know what the vet says.
i actually agree with elle this time. first sign of trouble take your pet to a vet. be a responsible owner
