i have a friend that has a small one, so i went looking on line and have discovered that they come with alot of power available. I was considering buying one as seen on this page, http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/62/p/1/pt/31/product.asp but wondered if anyone here owns one and has any thoughts? somme of the power packs can really make the need for electricity minimal.

I could not live with my power packs! Alright, I only have one and it's a 600 amp thing with two jumper leads (VERY handy) and a 12 volt plug. And a light. I also have a 150watt inverter for the car (plugs into 12volt) and I couldn't handle not having this thing. One day I am going to document my rig and it's contents on my website .... which is down at the moment .... but will go back online ....... one day ....

yeah i have a small one for jumping cars...it has no invertor built into it but i just plug my small 140 watt/hr invertor in when needed...you do have to watch out alot of them claim to have high amounts of amps...but they are cranking amps that they are talking about not amp/hrs...amp/hrs x 12 volts = watt/hrs available...and you can only use 70-80% of the available power in the battery ....

they are good if you want a small portable power source that you can carry....but if you do not need to move the power pack around you could just make up your own .....a trolling battery and small invertor

yeah the marine battery works great with a inverter on it. you can also add to that combo a small lawn mower and a gm alternator to charge the battery when it gets low.and by being mounted on a lawn mower its got wheels
    LOL

not a pretty site to be certine but they will charge those batteries fast and the marine batts last a long time. thats what we do here for power. and just turn on the engine to charge batteries for 30 min or so twice a day. enough time to charge all the batteries we use here.

and we run a fridge tv and satilite system off them not to mention power tools and lights at night.
