Well, some have CD burners in them, which is sweet, but they're obviously more expensive. I guess, you want one that takes different kinds of inputs for different mics and whatnot. Also, you'll want to look at how the music is recorded. I guess most have hard drives or memory cards. You should take into consideration how much space you need to record stuff (I wouldn't think you would need too much).

That's all I can think of, other than making sure the unit is of good quality.

Yeah, you should definitely be able to do that, but I'm not exactly sure how. I'm guessing that you would probably connect the unit to your computer through a USB port.

you'll need a Recorder, with a digital out. anything else wll be noisey. it will have static and the recording will suffer. make sure it has balanced inputs, XLR mic inputs and it should have more than one kind out OUTPUT....you should have digital and analog outs...

kinda equally both, i guess. i think i prefer making music over listening to it though.

and it was 6 CDs of previously unreleased Miles Davis recordings, you do the math. :H.

and its not everyday that i have a hundred dollars to just spend on anything (i wouldnt have had the money if i really wanted a recorder, my dad said he woulda paid up to $200 for one).... pfft, gimme miles.
i just really prefer computer recording, its a lot of fun and its easy.
