Are there any great pyschadelic artists of this century? I haven't heard any mindblowing records. Dead Meadow is good, and The Olivia Tremor Control was great until they split in 99 (I know, not this century).

I am asking for Pyschadelic Rock, or borderline electronic. You make the call, but please give me some artists. :)

    Thanks.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Try "Their Satanic Majesties Second Request" ('96), "Zero...Songs from the album" ep (2000), "And This is Our Music" ('03), "Take it From the Man" ('96), damn, buy them all! Or you can go to their website and download all their stuff for free.

Cul De Sac Check out the first cut called Etaoin Without Shrdlu on the Immortality Lessons CD. That shit makes me wanna drop a couple hits of blotter, lay on the rug, and put a couple of speakers next to my ears. That album is as good as anything the 13th Floor Elevators or Chocolate Watch Band put out in the 60's. I'm listening to it right now and I can almost see patterns on the walls. LOLz

Ah, I like Dead Meadow too! Especially the album Shivering king and others from 2003.

I also like the psychedelic space rock of Farflung, who are still active. But my favourite album of them is from 1995: 25000 feet per second. I also recommend the Myth of solid ground of them.
The psych rock from Colour Haze and the Great Escape is also great. I just got the album Nothing Happens Without A Dream of the Great Escape, I recommend it as well as their debut.

If you're into Dead Meadow you also may like stuff like Black Mountain (they're on tour with Dead Meadow), Lamp of the universe - The cosmic union, Baby Woodrose - Dropout, Fluidage's albums Harvester and Keep Fallin'. And so on. I probably forgetting a whole lot of band, but you see there's still psych rock bands around.

There were alot of great 90's bands like Sundial, Word Of Life, Outskirts Of Infinity, Bevis Frond And Porcupine Tree. As for past 2000, it's been more sparse. Dungen's first lp now issued on cd. Baby Woodrose. Dahk Von Trip. All good but not quite "classic". Nothing that compares to the killer songwriting (lyrically & musically), inpired singing and playing and total package of the classics produced by bands like the Airplane, Floyd, Butterfly or the lone Axe album. Best of the 90's was Sundial's "Other Way Out" - even "60's only" psych-heads and collectors highly rate that one and I would say it's as good as anything that came out of the 60's or 70's.

Hey Musicmars, I like Porcupine Tree. I just downloaded their new album Deadwing just yesterday. I'll check out those bands you mentioned. I'm listening to a band right now called Dead Meadow. Also some great stuff. lots of 6-7 minute jams. If you wan some archtypal Psychedelia, check out "Electric Heavyland" by Acid Mothers Temple And The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. you'll need to burn a couple of fattys before listening to that though. LOLz

That whole Mars Volta, Sparta, At The Drive-In group are good. Frances The Mute and Porcelain are both excellent albums, I mean CD's. (showing my age)
