Stephen Bennett ministries has started an ex-gay, anti-gay radio show called, Straight Talk Radio. He has a website that is www.straighttalkradio.org . On that site is a web discussion board that has become just a venue for ex-gays to discuss how horrid the gay "lifestyle" is and how destructive homosexuality is. Just real lovely stuff, unfortunately it is more of a gay bashing site. This guy is very misguided and I ask that you sign the petition to stop him at http://www.petitiononline.com/StopSTR/petition.html Also: I have started a campaign to flood that web board with pro-gay, but polite messages letting Stephen Bennett know just whom his show is hurting. I do not want people to send him hate messages, in fact I want them to send messages of love and pity. Following in the footsteps of SoulForce (www.soulforce.org) and their campaign against James Dobson. I would love to fill his web board with so many nice, polite gay people and gay supportive people to let him know who he is hurting. Sticking with the nonviolence principles of SoulForce. Any negative messages posted he will just use against gays to show how "evil" we are (puke). Details of this effort are on my blog at www.joebrummer.com, as well as some info about his radio show. The shows topics are just as endearing as the web board. One show was "the medical dangers of homosexuality', another was Matt Barber as a guest (guy who was fired from Allstate for being too anti-gay) . All of these shows rely on flawed research and deception to make gays look like monsters. Any help you could give me in getting the word out for people to visit this site, join his web board and offer messages of hope rather than hate, would be really great. Spread the word pass the message along to family, friends, and all who care about Human Rights!!! Joe Brummer www.joebrummer.com
Well, first off, he might be slagging off "the gay lifestyle" for very good reasons. There's a serious part of me VERY VERY thankful I'm not gay.
went on the site ,I think your doing a good job in your argument, better than just taking the site out is to put the opposite view which i think your doing very well.
Agreed, i want to encourage anyone on this board who feels against this to sign, I just signed it and I am now 208? something like that, anyways the numbers are low, and it only take like 30 seconds to do....so ...GO FOR IT!!!
As much as I am appalled by the gay-bashing, the man DOES have the right of free speech. What was that quote? "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defent to the death your right to say it." I'm bi-curious myself, and fully disapprove of what he says, but the choice to say it is his. The choice to listen is yours.
I'm 238! I never thought to be a gay in my life but nobody deserves hurt for their rights in their lives unless it's going to hurt another person.. People would do well to join this petition for the sake of good...
