ZOETERMEER - 'Are you planning to stay sober, you'll be shot anyway.' This was on a get well soon card from a friend. A night out in the centre of Zoetermeer was nearly fatal for Ronald Sluiter (23).

But the chef can laugh again at his friends jokes. It is a miracle that he is still alive, and he realizes it often. 'The doctors said that 99% die from two bullets in the head, you should have seen the doctors faces when I went outside after two and a half weeks to smoke a cigarette..'

The suspect for the shooting, a 32 year old man from Den Haag, will appear in court on 6 january. He is charged with attempted murder, for which he can get 6 years maximum. Ronald commented,'Whatever he gets, it isn't enough, I've got lifelong'.

Ronald was at the party in the centre of Zoetermeer barely 5 minutes when he was shot in cold blood. 'I didn't even get chance to drink my beer'.

''We bought a beer, and walked through the crowd, there were around 400 people, then suddenly I was pushed by somebody. Because of this I was pushed into another man. He mumbled something, and I offered him a beer. He mumbled something but I didn't hear him because of the music, and I am also a little deaf in my right ear. Then the man screamed 'are you deaf or something?', I replied 'yes'. Then the man handed his beer to one of his friends. I thought he was going to hit me, so I tried to walk away, then I was shot twice in the head.'

Seriously injured, but still conscious, Ronald collapsed on the floor....
