I am combing my dreads (back-combing and moving the knots closer to the scalp). Well, this ends up with straight ends that don't stick together. I know about palm rolling, etc but I need my hair to be more pieced together. I feel like they won't ever lock up. I am trying not to use wax, because everyone here says it's so bad, but I have seen the pics on the wax product websites and they look like what I want. How do you guys keep your ends together? My dreads are about 3 months old.
i have faith that my dreadies will turn out and just leave them be. i backcombed them initally and now just let them do their own thing. they go through really loopy phases.......sometimes the ends are loose and fuzzy. it's all part of dreading. if you don't really want them leave them as they are, you could try the crochet method. take a look at http://knottylocks.tk/ they have a dreadlock 911 section. that might help you out a bit as far as i can tell, the ends are supposed to be fuzzy for a while. don't stress out about it....i know that they will be fine *hugs*
Patience my dear ~ patience! They are still young ~ don't expect so much so soon. Play with them ~ like roll and knot them with your fingers as much as possible. It'll happen with time = )
3 months!! YOUR LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO TELL THEY ARE DEREADS! they a babys.. absolute babies. infact theyr are probably not even locked yat, just the knotts you put in. my advice. stop back combing to the root, the hair will knott itself. and leave the end they will knott theirself too. if you get desperate crochet them
I can relate.. mine are a year and a month and they still don't feel like they are really solidly locking
I have the opposite problem, I don't want dreads, but I never brush me hair and alot of the time just throw a beanie over it and it's always starting to stick together all over the gaff and then it a pain in the arse to seperate. Only when I wash it with shampoo does it make it easy to unstick them but then it goes all fucked up and frizzy on me. As you may have gathered, it's a hard life!
