Hi Everyone I am new here I use to come here a couple of years ago and now I am back. I am a lampworker and make beads everyday. Here are some of my work let me know what you think Have a great day Tara
Hi Here is how I got started I bought More than you ever want to know about making glass beads, a minor bench torch, kiln, glass supplies, and oxygen tank, propane tank, hoses and regulators for the tanks. It took about $1500 to get started. I did watch alot of people lampwork and picked up tips. Its tough at first but once you keep practicing it was addicting. You can start on a hothead which is cheaper and I saw kits at hobbylobby near the stained glass sections. You can go to bead shows and see some lampworkers making beads. You can also see of there is a group near you that meet once a month and learn. I also learn alot from www.wetcanvas.com I am alway up for trades too Tara
Hi Yes I sell them mostly at bead and art shows. I have some on ebay I am the seller neckstop. If you are interested in beads, just shoot me an email. I can pretty much make any kind of bead picture wise or try to anyways. I am going to list more on the www.sbauction.com this week. I just have been so busy getting ready for a bead show this weekend. I usually start all my necklaces at $10 at sbauction. Lately I am working on family beads, mother baby, of course fairies and sign language. The hand sign means I Love U! Here are some more eye candy!
Nice work. What kind of camera do you have? I can never take good, clear pics of my glass because of my crappy camera.
Hi Taking pics of glass is Hard but I think I figured it out. I lately take pics inside on cork. I have an olympus camedia 4.0 megapixal. I noticed that if you wear the glass the pics turn good and in your hand.
whoa that is so cool i always wanted to learn how to do that where did u get all those accesories and stuff when u started to make it all (1500 is quite alot ill have too start making my money but it would be worth it in the end)
Hi I got everything at intergalactic bead show. You can also go to hobby lobby and get a hot head to start out and see if you like meltin glass. There was a kit for about $200 to get totally started. Then if you like doing it upgrade. But working at a hot head takes the glass longer to melt but it is better to start slower at first. And $1500 is not bad if you want to start a business and sell beads. There are also websites where you can order everything that you need. Get Cindy Jenkins book Making glass beads which has great pictures on making beads and what you would need to get started. I would also see if there are some bead store where you can take classes and rent torch time. That way you can just go to their store and practice on their torches and use their kilns. Some people cant torch in their homes and so go to these stores to make glass beads. That way you dont have to buy a kiln or torch.
