I meditate daily and try to live my life based on the Eightfold path and 4 noble truths. I do however think it is I time I read more on Buddhism and was wondering had anyone read much of the Tripitaka and is so what parts and was there any bit in particular they would recommend I try and read?

Any tips would be much be much appreciated.

Not the Tripitaka per se, but I love
"Words of My Perfect Teacher" by Patrul Rinpoche.
It has all the most classic Buddhist stories pertaining to the Mahasiddhas in the Vajrayana tradition of Northern India and Tibet, Bhutan, etc..

I'm afraid that I've never read the Tripitaka, but I would really suggest reading the Lotus Sutra
