i think you would make a good hippy if you ever decide to become one... what i think are important things to become a hippie is to let yourself be loved but you can make anyone love you, it is never good to compare yourself to others as be your own person, a rich person is not someone who has the most but someone who needs the least and however scarred and damaged we and the world look, love can heal it all if you ever want to become a hippie, i'll help you
trying to be a label is superficial and one of the things we're supposed to learn in our becoming a hippie is not to be superficial and to connect to the cosmic matrix in our hearts and if we do this, we can communicate with people through esp and there will be sychronicity of needs being fullfilled in the moment of the cosmic dance
Look...Im not flaming you I think it's cool that you dig the hippie lifestyle, but check it out.....How do you become a hippie? You dont wake up one morning and say...yay its december 31 i am a hippie now....As far as the army goes...I understand, that you are getting out, i understadn the contract, i come froma military family and almost joined myself until I woke up. The best advice that I can give to you is this.......Just be who you are....if you dont know who you are, the best way to find out is just to look into the things that interest you (like someone already said) it's a journey not a mathematical process. Just be you ...that is the hippest thing you can do. peace and love baby.
yes i did read your post. if you felt like i was attacking you or somthing, im sorry, i didnt mean to sound like that. i just think it would be hard to live a hippie kind of life style when your in the army. and i didnt say that you were dirt poor, i ment if you dont want to be dirt poor you have to save up money to buy a farm and all that stuff.
You guys need to take a look at yourselves, in my opinion. You're throwing out definitions of what a hippie "is" and "isn't." So, basically, you're rejecting certain people based on choices that they've made. You're saying that people who've made certain career decisions can't be hippies. What about people trying to change the government from the inside? People who support "the man" [I'm sorry, are we still 15?] can still be the people who are trying to make a difference. And sorry, people who run head shops usually aren't the people who are effecting change. I love "hippie" ideals. I love the idea of love and peace and goodwill and respect of nature. But come on. You guys sound exactly like any other subculture in which you accept and deny people on a whim, based solely on superficial qualities. Incredibly lame, in my opinion.
Yeah well, you're still part of the war machine. Calling it a good career is like calling hitman a good career.
Well, I personally wouldn't join the military, but I still think it's bullshit to say that a person in the armed forces can't still hold true to hippie ideals. I hate to put it this way, as I'm certainly not one who would be labeled "patriotic," but you'd best be damn happy that you have the ability to do drugs, live your life the way you want it, and generally live free of interference. The military has, historically, helped you to achieve that. Although I don't agree with the war in any way, shape, or form, I find it so distateful to directly tell someone in the military that their job is wrong or reprehensible. Someone, in the end, has to do it. And I bet a lot of money that it wouldn't ever be anyone here [myself included]. Give them the credit that they do deserve, and stop being a bunch of self-righteous pricks. I know most of you are probably awesome people, but don't let ridiculous terms like "the man" and "the war machine" hang you up.
those are channeled words from God in a book i have that i condensced... i'll let you know what the book is on some future date (not the date that i want to date you plus i don't date women but i'm cool with chicks who date women but date as in a point in time even thought i do realize that in hippie philosophy, time is an illusion) as i'm unable to locate it now
ah, now it looks like being a hippie is really tough.. well, I don't know how to help you.. I think I am a hippie although I am not a vegeterian, not a pagan, don't live in the country.. But I want PEACE.. and do everything for keeping peace around me.. and that's why I can call myself hippie.. being a hippie is a statement of MIND.
just be yourself the way you want to be. you cant change yourself or who you are just because you like someone elses lifestyle better. live simply, as you said you wanted to. you have beautiful dreams ahead of you. do what makes you happy. peace~
Life is for living (i do not consider drugs, casual sex, and other such things as lving), loving, and giving. thats what you should always strive to do. I am a christian. Please don't jump to conclusions i understand how bad that word seems now. But to me God wants me to do one thing and thats Love. If i love Him i'll not want to sin agianst him, If i Love myself for who i am *not in arrogance* I won't sin agianst my self. And if i love my neighbor i won't sin agianst them. I love God and i love my neighbor, for me i've got to work on my self...and i'm making progress I guess all that long winded junk pretty much says...Love who you are and the ones around you...that may not be "hippie" but it will make you a better person.
haha, love the green in the hair by the way =) but yes, as everyone has stated many times though it should be implied don't conform to a label be yourself if anything, the label'll come to you from an outside source and if this how ya wanna think of it then you've became a hippie throw a party can i come?
I believe that you have the right to do what you what to do. You have a family to support, and for you the military was the way to do it. That was your path you chose. I think that it's better to be a hippie who can afford to be a hippie, then to live like a piece of crap for the rest of your life for not going into the military. Not everyone in the service believes in war, but being in the service its the food on the table, and anything else you might want to have in the future. I think you're doing an excellent job being a hippie.
