so i was cleaning out my closet a few days ago and setting aside clothes that i never wear anymore or never wore to begin with. i ended up with 3 big rubbermaid containers of them! i donated three garbage bags full of clothes to a woman's shelter in august, so these are recently discarded clothes. (i think i have a problem!) i really want to do something with them, like refurbish (for lack of a better word) them, you know, cut them all up and make new clothes out of them, but i need to start simple. i can sew pretty well by hand and i don't have a sewing machine in my apt, so i will have to start small.

anyway, i have been looking online to try and find some resources or ideas, but i haven't really come up with anything other than like imitation of christ, and i'm not quite ready to start having runway shows with Scarlett Johansson yet, so i was wondering if any of you guys knew of any websites or books that talk about this, or if any of you guys have done this before. i have some ideas of stuff i want to do, but it always helps me to see what is out there and what could be done with this stuff so i can get some loftier goals...

    thanks so much

What kinds of clothes have you got that you want to revamp??

trousers can be made into shirts quite easily. tshirts can become halternecks and boob tubes (thats really easy!!) and skirts.

gimmie an idea of what you've got and i'll see what ideas i can come up with :)

i second craftster. if you have any blank tees, you can stencil them, you can embroider jeans, and make some boleros(those cropped jacket-like things) out of old sweaters.

I simple thing I like to do is simply cut the outer seam and add patches down the side...

...or you can make patches out of them and make pouches to put stuff in. Cell phones, digital camera, mp3 players...
