Do any of you know about tv internet, Im thinking of getting it, my computer broke down and im using my parents. I wonder if i have to have a certain type of tv, or maybe my computer monitor will hook to it. I dont want to pay the price for a new computer as all i use is the internet. Ive seen where tv internet systems are cheaper than computers.

I can get the tv internet equipment cheaper and i dont do anything but surf the web, I dont play games or do anything else with a computer, My mind is not made up yet though. I also like the idea of having everything on a large tv screen then i can sitt back on my bed and type away, much more comfortable than sitting at a computer desk.

I checked on line and microsoft has a system on sale for around 130.00 i belive, somewhere in the price range. It's a small box with a keyboard that hooks to your tv for internet access.

I owned a webtv for a few years. I know a lot about them, so if you want you can send me a PM or hit me up on messenger sometime if you have any questions. I personally wouldn't recommend buying one though. They are too limited. You would be better off paying a few more hundred dollars and getting a decent computer. The main limitation is that it doesn't have a harddrive. You can't save music, documents, programs, games etc. There are also plenty of other limitations such as speed, incompatibility with certain sites, etc. Support can be downright awful sometimes as well.

I know nothing about "Web TV", but don't most good (low-mid range) graphics cards have ports for output to a TV or DVD/VCR device? Wouldn't it then be possible to use a TV as a monitor, and your DVD remote as an input changer so you could switch to "PC" as a "channel" and do your computer work on the TV. A wireless keyboard-mouse setup, and you could "sit back", as you say, and work from anywhere in the room, and without moving, switch back to your fav. TV show! The "WebTV" does seem a limited one-trick-pony (like a games console?), when you could build a handy computer for not much more and do a lot more with it. In fact, I think I'll try that out - set up one of my spare PCs on the "TV" and see how it looks! Photo slide shows, Powerpoint presentations, games and downloaded movies, all on TV! Oh, and the internet too...

if you look at the images on a tv, wont the resolution be greatly reduced? i would think it would be bad enough to make these words in this type unreadable

Yes, that's a point - what resolution (like in pixel terms, 800x600 or 1024x780) is a fairly late model 68cm TV, or even a wide-screen one, capable of, or do you need a digital TV?
