Pink Floyd voted 'world's best rock act'

Pink Floyd have been named the world's greatest rock act of all time.


The band, which recently reunited on stage at Live 8 for the first time in 24 years, beat other rock icons like U2 and The Who to the title.

Led Zeppelin came second, followed by The Rolling Stones in the poll of almost 60,000 rock fans.

The Who were fourth, eclipsing AC/DC, U2, Guns N' Roses, and Nirvana.

Jimi Hendrix came 10th in a poll carried out by digital radio station Planet Rock, after Bon Jovi.

The survey of 58,000 listeners also named the 1970s the golden age of rock, followed by the 1960s, the Spandex years of the 1980s and grunge decade the 1990s. Pink Floyd are thought to have sold a staggering 200 million albums worldwide since forming in 1965.

 

i would agree on that. i love pink floyd and my second would also be led zep.

i'm a little sick of Floyd sense I've heard them so much in my life. But they're okay. If it were up to me, I'd give the award to The Grateful Dead. As for those other bands, I agree with that, except for Nirvana and U2, both of which I can't get into too much. I also think Jimi should be higher on that list.

 

Where did the Pixies come in?

 

Well I guess I did exaggerate a little, as I usually do. But I just dont understand how someone can like BON JOVI, they suck, there's nothing else to it. Every single filmclip is the same, every single song is the same, ehhhhhh. 80s hair metal just gets me mad!
