i get to see sonic youth this saturday in san francisco and im really excited. ive wanted to see them for a really long time. im sure they will be playing a lot of new material from sonic nurse which i havent had a chance to listen to. has anyone had a chance to hear this album and if you have what did you think? oh yea they are playing with wolf eyes, xbxrx, and the party patrol. i havent heard of any of these bands if you have tell me about them if you wanna.
I've seen Sonic Youth twice. The first time I saw them was in Pittsburgh when they were headlining Lollapalooza back in...um...I forget. It was one of the best performances I've ever seen. They totally blew me away. The second time I saw them was at a free outdoor show at Penn State. That one wasn't so good. They were playing all brand new material, none of which I was familiar with. I don't think it was just that, though. Nobody I knew got a good vibe from that one. We were all bored by it and left early.
Ohh lucky you!!! It pisses me off so much that most of the bands I would love to see live never come to Finland. Ahh well. Good thing they invented airplanes and ships so I can get away from here whenever I need to...

they sounded great! one of the best live performances ive ever seen. i had a huge smile on my face the entire show.
Did you survive Wolf Eyes..... They are from Michigan so they play here a lot, mostly at this factory that was taken over by young artists...I went and saw them there once and it sounded like this static static...scream static feedback scream scream louder static.....next song static evil scream distorted yell static.....no beat, no instruments really just pure noise I used to like Sonic Youth a lot more in the past...haven't heard their latest yet...the time I saw them in about 1990 remains one of the best shows I have ever seen though.
i just barely survived wolf eyes! they are fucking insane. it sounds like music you would listen to while burning in hell.
hahahahah I know! There were maybe 200 people watching them when isaw them, all young attractive artist types standing around staring as if those guys were doing something important. Me and my friends laughed, and covered our ears before they bled. A music writer guy I know said "well they definitely hate" and I will give them that!
