Ever wonder why children are so hipper? I can tell you that after teaching third graders for a year, and working with kindergarten for a few months, these kids aren't normal. Some were uncontrolable. I didn't know what it was at the beggining. I just assumed they wached too much TV. But then I starded seing a pattern. After their snack time was when they got worse. So I figured all the sugar, but it's more than that. They would have "juice drinks" that had more colors than a rainbow. And candy that left their fingers and teeth disgustingly colored. Not to mention those cheetos that made their tounge green. Anyway... I noticed that the kids that brought fruits and healthier foods would be calmer and pay more atention than those who ate colored things.
I latter looked up info on food additives and coloring and found many articles linking hipperactivity to food coloring. So I found my answer. I send a letter to the parents about it but not many cared. Besides thats what they want right? Bright collors and stiky fingers. And it's all part of selling the product. Gets the poor kids addicted and parents never think of it.
For those of you who have children please read up on this... You will find it interesting. Maybe even explains your child's behavior.
This really concerns me. I don't have children yet, so I try to take care of others.
But hipper activity isn't the only effect...
    This page is good www.becomehealthynow.com/article/dietbad/31/2
Or just make a search on food additives and artificial colors.

I don't have any scientific references, but I've read loads of info online and in books I have. There is three types of fats. Mono fats, Poly fats, and Saturated fats. The bad one is saturated fat.

and the thing that sucks about lipids is that even if they ARENT bad for you, they provide so much energy, and chances are, you probalby wont use all of it, and you'll end up all fat, and being overweight is not healthy.

It sound like you have been reading propaganda from margarine companies. If you do your research you will find abundant evidence against trans fat but nothing on saturated fat. It is quality not quantity of fat that matters in your diet.

Don't forget trans-fats! Sat fats aren't bad in small quantities. So...eating bacon three times a day is outta the question.

its saturated animal fats and cholesterol that are bad for you, this is becoming very widely known to even mainstream doctors. saturated peanut fats are an entirely different story, and they even give you some omega essential fatty acids. and the saturated fat in hemp nuts give you every omega essential fatty acid in the most balanced form for our bodies to assimilate, as wellllll as complete vegetarian protein...coincedence? nah....

ive also read things about kids on REAL diets getting some nutrition in their food are very rarely ADD, and avoiding a bunch of other sickness' too. most parents unfortunatley start many children off on a bad foot in life this way, addicting them to refined sugar and processed junk and forming all sorts of damage and misused energy in the body....

saturated fats molecularly have basically no double bonds and are thus called saturated because they are saturated with as many hydrogens as possible. The reason they are bad for us is because we lack an enzyme to break them down so they kinda just get "stuck in you". Hehe not to worry though saturated fat lovers they are working on forming the enzyme which they can then inject into i believe your liver i could be wrong but i believe its the liver so in the "future" we will be able to properly digest them.

Honey, you better wake up and smell the coffee because almost every child will seem uncontrollable at times. It's called being a child. :)

While I wholeheartedly agree that children consuming many of the foods that they do cause poor behavior, it's unfair to state that those children are not "normal". They're children, and children will not be angelic every second of the day!

    ^^^
i don't expect them to be... my brother and one of my cousins was hyperactive and it wasnt because of their food, they were just that way
i understand how children are because i've been dealing with children for 5 years so i've seen alot of diferent behaviors...
it just bothers me that many parents are unaware of whats in the food their children eat.
do they even read the labels???
people should be more concious about these things.
maybe my point wasn't clear... but it doesn't matter... just wanted to hear different views on this matter. ;)

I totally understand. It amazes me what some parents will let their kids have.

When I was at the park one day with my kids, I saw a mother pouring soda into her baby's bottle! I couldn't believe it. This baby looked around 7 or 8 months old, and this woman had a liter of soda and was just pouring it in there. Crazy! *shakes head*

oh... and i didn't mean to be cruel with the "not normal" coment...
i read it again and understand how it could be misunderstood.
i love kids, thats why i teach.
but don't worry, i'll get my taste of childhood, i plan on having one soon.
and i'm sure it won't peaches and cream... :p

I think you are getting confused with trans fats. Perhaps you could provide your scientific references. Check these links out.
