ive got to get started on the pill and im trying to figure out what will be cheaper....going thru the planned parenthood program or doing it thru my doctor. insurance doesnt cover BC. does anyone have an idea as to how much it would be if a doc just prescribed it? the PP program has it for $30 a month but you have to go thru their pap smear first and that costs $140. but i dont want to go to my regular doctor and then have him give me pills that are going to cost me $50 per month.....anyone have an idea as to what they would cost me if i went that route? im thinking it might be cheaper to do the PP thing.........

UUUmmmmmm why the hell doesn't your insurance cover it? Mine does and i pay $10 a month!!!!
If I don't have insurance it cost me $30 a month.
Personally, I would get some better insurance first then go with your regular doc!!!!

no, because she lives in another state. i live on the state line and i actually work in that other state (an hour drive) so i dont qualify. there is one in my state...at the healthcare clinic.....but ive checked that out already and it seems that the cost would be too high.

I would call your insurance provider first and ask them, they would know better what was covered then us or another employee.

Also, try getting generic brands of BC because that makes a BIG difference in the cost!

In the end, I think you will pay the same at planned parenthood as going with your regular Doc. - but call your insurance company first!!!

Birth control is unnatural and harmful to your body. You should use all naturaly methods.

i have menstral migranes and sometimes BC helps to keep them away (for some people). i will try anything i can to get rid of migranes even if its unnatural.

what natural ways are there to prevent yourself from getting pregnant while sexually active anyway?

Uhmm sweetie, she may have been serious. DH & I tried this once. They sell them as "all natural condoms." And they absolutely REEK of formaldehyde. We deduced that they are excellent birth control, as we didn't want to do ANYTHING after opening them!

But how on earth shoving bits & pieces of another animal into yourself is natural, is completely beyond me.

For us, we went with more permanent measures. With an allergy to latex & most BC pills out there and a body that physically can't handle another pregnancy, DH was gracious enough to offer to "fix the problem" and we haven't looked back :)
    love,

im a vegan so the sheep condoms wont be OK for me.

i finally got a script for BC yesterday and im going to fill it this next friday. my mother warned me about gaining weight on the pill.....ive never taken the pill before (only once when i was 19 but that only lasted for two months as i couldnt remember to take them)....i said that the only way you can gain weight on the pill is if you eat more than ususal and she says that its the pill itself that makes the weight gain.......anyone know about this one?

yes, you will gain about 10 pounds just from being on them. They make your boobs bigger and it's harder to keep weight off. My new insurance doesn't cover them and they were 30 I couldn't figure out the ortho tri-cyclen pack though so I never took them plus birth control makes me feel yucky.

Some health care systems are run by Catholics.

Other ones try to reduce costs as much as possible, so they basically don't cover anything that isn't medically necessary.

Some aren't covered by health care cards or medicare, of course, it depends where you live. Mine costs under ten bucks but our health care is different than in the US.

I NEVER gained weight from being on the pill! The shot is what makes you gain weight not the pill. In-fact, I can eat like a pig ever since I have been on it and can't gain weight even if I tried!!!!! -But my boobies got smaller..... :(
